I don't know how to feel about the pilot. It was so campy and the CGI was almost laughable. Every character was a cliche'. Can we get one f'ing drama w/out teenage angst?? I'll give it one more episode... if it's too heavy on the drama, I'm out.
Also, the stupid alien saboteur guy with the limp --- that acting was hard to watch.

Episode 3 of 13 airs tonight:
Last week was a 2 hour Pilot and counted as 2 episodes.
Defiance (Syfy) Episode 2 “Down in the Ground Where the Dead Men Go” – A killer is pursued; at the same time, Nolan and Datak come to blows over an ancient ritual.

I give most sci-fi shows an honest shot and liked the premier. My only real issue was the feeling that the first episodes mimicked the first episode of Eureka right down to the sassy daughter.

I agree with you on the sassy daughter. She and the mine owning family were the characters that I didn't like. Overall, I liked the pilot and I have to watch the third episode later on tonight.

Finally caught the pilot last night. Not sure what I was expecting. I think it came off more camp, which caught me by surprise. However, it certainly picked up in the second hour. I did like the mystery reveal at the end and the preview looked like it had some good energy and development.
I may check out a few more, or save up the season and watch once summer starts.
I actually had the thought - well they went a bit older, Fillion could have fit this part.

New Zeland's answer to Nathan Fillion.

I'm really enjoying it. If it keeps up, I hope it sticks around for a long while.

Its part of a larger conspiracy (I'm guessing that son was somehow involved with the conspiracy to have the city destroyed). At the end of the episode they wanted to look for something under the city.

this show is so freaking.... bland... for the lack of a better term. It's just like a turd floating on a tranquil lake.

Second (third?) episode dragged quite a bit. Sci-fi shows tend to start slow, though. I'll stick with this one.

I'm liking the show so far. Angry girl is kind of all over the place. Darla is interesting same with albino incest people. Tech is cool but cg is on the poor side but understandably so.

Alien daughter doesn't make much sense. Pissed that daddy wants to help save a town from destruction, tells him they aren't worth taking a risk for before he goes underground, but she risks her life to save one person who is actually willing to die.
