Philadelphia, at least what we saw of it, appears to be pretty-well maintained and a goodly population.

Btw, how long would it have taken the steam locomotive to get from IN to Philly? Several days?

I think I just found something that says they'd have to stop every 100 miles or so for water.

Apparently they could do 60 to 80 MPH on flat terrain. Let's say 40 miles in an hour and say it's 800 miles by train track. 20 hours plus all the stops. Day and a half maybe?

Steam locomotives can actually go pretty fast. Factoring in stops for water they could have made the trip in about 12 hours, probably. Depends on what route they used. Higher grades would slow them down.

Well, yeah, the Old 97 tore things up bigtime. A really well maintained train run by professionals could make the trip quick. That's not the impression I got of that train.

Does wood burn as well as coal for locomotive purposes? I'd think no, but I'm no scientist.

+1

That is largely correct, the first season of Supernatural had very poor writing and very mediocre episodes, mixed in with a handful of superior episodes that showed immense promise. That is Revolution's only hope, that serious changes are made based on fan reaction. Supernatural took the characters and made it a serialized dramady when the monster-of-the-week stuff wasn't working.

I still think NBC is going to regret committing to a full season of Revolution. Internet fans mostly despise the show by now and think both the acting and writing are poor.

Why would they regret it? It's won the timeslot 5 straight weeks and ratings were actually up this week. Creatively it's getting nit picked to death by the Internet community, but it's getting watched and that's all that matters to them.

The writing I'd say is mediocre. It's the kids who are wretched actors (the girl more than the boy). If they'd kill their characters or shove them into the background (more likely) and improve the writing to average, they could actually have something here.

Internet fans do not equate to a show success. As long as people keep on watching it, internet chatter really doesn't matter.

I've given her a chance because I think she's hot, and I remember Anna Torv not being great at the beginning of Fringe but she is absolutely terrible.

I guess I'm in the minority but I'm really enjoying this show. Maybe I'm just trying to fill the gap for a show that leaves you hanging for the next episode like Lost and 24. Plenty of plot holes to look past but I'm okay with that if they keep the mysteries coming. I hope it doesn't get cancelled out of the blue with nothing being resolved.

I think what keeps me coming back is that they are moving the show along at a very quick pace. The writing isn't good, but the plotting is pretty enjoyable so far.

Well it is Indiana. I'm more impressed with the upstanding nature of the citizens of Texas who steadfastly defend their pre-change border with New Mexico without ever dipping so much as a big toe across the line. Apparently who or whatever caused the "Wasteland" had a Rand McNally atlas at hand. And did everyone in Ontario just pack up and leave?

If there is one pet peeve i have for movies and TV, it's when the victim gets the upperhand on a more powerful villian then proceeds to try and run away rather than finishing him off properly. Villian recovers and gets back control

When Danny broke the bottle over Tom's head, both Danny and sis should have stomped that mofo's head off until the whole floor was blood red, not gasp and act stupid then make a run for it.

I yelled at the TV for them to grab his hand cannon at that point. Even if they didn't want to kill him, at least take his gun and pistol-whip the shit out of him so he can't follow and/or shoot you.

Re: Revolution -- "Soul Train" -- 10/15/12

Watched this last night and I think I'm out.

1) The hunger games girl and her stupid facial expressions her nose goes all flat, eyes wide, eyebrows up, wrinkled forehead. I swear she makes that face every scene she is in.

2) I agree with other posters here - WTF is up with these people's blind commitment to wanting to find "Danny"? Tubby mcbeardo "What about finding Danny, we can't give up" (They are acting like this kid has the plans to the Death Star). Fake Holly Berry "I can't do it.. Danny is on that train." Who cares?

3) Again that girl goes off and does not listen to anyone and follows Obama and almost gets killed, followed by your standard uncle comes to save the day fight scene insert - hey I recognize you.. aren't you ______.

4) The brother is the worst actor on tv. I wanted that train to blow up so we could be done with him.

5) Juliette is being held captive by Monroe. What is she a princess that is being held in the castle for the past 15 years. They come to torture her and pull her teeth - but she looks fine to me. She sees her adult child and all of a sudden has this huge connection and is now willing to talk ???? I could understand her wanting to save an innocent 4 yr old. But a a grown 18+ yr old??

4, 18, whatever, you wouldn't save your child?

She won't give up the information when they pull her teeth - but a full grown man is walking outside (how does she know that is her child? she hasn't seen him in 15 years) is hair color the only proof she needs?

If it was this easy Monroe could have said "we have your children hostage, I will give an order and kill them in 24 hrs if you don't give us the information we want."

I feel that a mother's connection would be stronger to a 4 year old who could not survive without them, than a full grown man. Yes a mother would still love a full grown child, but that connection is stronger in those "helpless" years

Now that Animal Practice is cancelled, they should move the monkey over to this. A monkey with a crossbow = ratings win.

And a better actor than Hunger Games girl.

Hopefully, they put the monkey on America's Got Talent next summer to replace Sharon Osbourne.
