I also liked that they mentioned Fritz since he was supposed to be the official FBI liaison

Enjoying this show. Although the Rusty storyline is getting a bit old. The show needs some new blood.

I always love the episodes where Flynn and Provenza get into trouble. Nice episode with some of the dumbest criminals on the face of the planet. Was it me or were Rusty's eyes particularly red throughout this episode?

Re: Major Crimes -- Season 2 -- Mondays (TNT)

Great episode Monday night. Loved all the stuff with Flynn and Provenza. Those guys always crack me up. I recall there was talk at one point of a Flynn and Provenza spinoff and I would have been totally game for that. But, Major Crimes still works. I like that they are still a significant part of the team.

at ADA Rios calling Julio "Detective Lopez"

Some really dumb, yet hilarious criminals in this episode.

Interesting that Rusty chose not to tell Sharon about the "date" and lied to Chris.

Pretty lackluster season so far.

Didn't really care for Monday's episode.

The idea to bring in Tom Berenger as Sharon's husband sounded good on paper. But, I thought the character was poorly written. Came across as a goofball.

I also did not like the Berenger character. I fail to see what he adds to the show.

So Rusty got another threatening letter and he's not telling anyone about it. That's going to end well.

Re: Major Crimes -- Season 2 -- Mondays (TNT)

While I"m still not feeling Tom Berenger's character I really liked this week's episode. The D.A. wasn't quite as annoying - the argument between her and Provenza seemed really honest and powerful. I liked that the bully is getting what he deserved but my question is: shouldn't the mom go to jail too? Wasn't she obstructing justice?

Re: Major Crimes -- Season 2 -- Mondays (TNT)

After last week's disappointing episode, thought this one was pretty good.

The "bullying" storyline was quite sad. My stomach turned when the brother murdered his sister.

I also thought it was interesting the episode brought up Rusty's sexuality especially from his time as a male prostitute. Sharon brushed it off after her ex brought it up.

It was good but I really didnt need to see any of the murder in flashback? Just showing him chasing her with a bat was enough.

Not sure where they are going with Rusty - is he gay, or straight and afraid that his girlfriend will find out about his days as a prostitute.

This week's episode was pretty awesome. The chemistry between the retirement home folks was cool and it was nice to see those actors again. The final scene of Provenza with those glasses was hilarious.

Renewed for a 3rd season today. Good news. I think the show has gotten better.

Jon Tenney also said recently that he might be returning as Fritz, possibly during the 2nd half of this season.

I really like this show. Almost as much as The Closer. I thought it would be terrible.

Re: Major Crimes -- Season 2 -- Mondays (TNT)

So this must be a consequence of not watching commercials but I didn't know that Major Crimes started back last week. Streamed last week's episode and it is off to a solid start. Dealt with the issues left over from the mid-season finale but they're still dancing around Rusty's sexuality for reasons I just don't understand. I will watch last night's episode later today.

Incredibly good episode for the season finale. Amazingly, I think Major Crimes has actually become a better show than The Closer. Too bad no one here seems to watch it, they are really missing out on a truly superior procedural.

I would never say Major Crimes is better than The Closer. MC just follows the template set by the latter.

I find it a little tighter and better written, but yes it is essentially the same show.

Major Crimes (TNT) -- Season 3 Thread -- Mondays

Season Premiere: Major Crimes

Season Premiere: "Flight Risk" - Monday, June 9, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) - TV-14-DLSV

When a father and his two young children go missing, the squad has to work quickly to find them, while uncovering a slew of terrible family secrets along the way. Meanwhile, Raydor does her best to trust Rusty as he begins to take suspicious trips out on his own. Kathe Mazur guest stars.

Directed by David McWhirter

Written by Michael Alaimo

Created by James Duff

19 episode 3rd season. Half will air this summer and the 2nd half will air in Winter.

Jon Tenney is returning as Fritz as a guest star this season

Also, creator James Duff is hoping to get Billy Burke to play Phillip Stroh again from his stint on The Closer. He wants to get Kyra Sedgwick back as well should they get Burke since Brenda is pretty important to the Stroh arc. It may or may not happen this season.

I just wish TBS would do some The Closer specials and get rid of this copycat.

Why would you call this a copycat? it's a continuation of The Closer. For the most part same cast and crew and same creator. Same unit, same building.

Only difference is Brenda doesn't work there anymore.

Re: Major Crimes (TNT) -- Season 3 Thread -- Mondays

Alright, call it The Closer Light. I do like MC on some levelbut it has the same beats and structure as its originator. Throw in the fact that Rusty storyline (which was introduced in The Closer) has been going on for over 3 seasons now and is pretty tired. I know that they threw him in there to humanize Raydor but I wish they would've done that with her interactions with her unit and not the tired child cliche.

Now I'm down for a Sanchez spinoff. Make it happen TNT.

Hmm....I like it as much as The Closer. I disliked Raydor in The Closer but she is excellent in this show. I never liked Detective Gabriel and in The Closer he was the second most important character in that show. Rusty storyline aside, I think the cases are for the most part better in Major Crimes as they seem more real as they rely less on shoehorning a surprise confession into the episode. I think Major Crimes is one of the more underrated shows on television.

Re: Major Crimes (TNT) -- Season 3 Thread -- Mondays

Major Crime is decent but The Closer was magic. I just find it inferior. it really wasn't about the crimes in that show, it was about one of the best written female characters in television history and her relationships with family and coworkers. I loved how that dynamic changed from season to season.
