I have several favorites: Out of Gas, Shindig, and Objects in Space.

Jaynestown is so funny, and the pilot is good too.

My BD of the series arrived in the mail last week. It's been fun revisiting the show. It's a shame Fox wouldn't pony up the cash to redo the standard def effects work but I'm just happy to have the show in HD at all.

That Inara revelation was freaking crazy, but makes total sense.

I may rewatch some episodes to see if hints were already there. Like the Arial episode when she said she had to have her annual "companion" check up.

Wonder if Joss changed his mind on that storyline for the movie?

That tidbit has been out for a long time. There were also a few details revealed about Book's backstory that eventually made it into Dark Horse's Shepherd's Tale graphic novel.

Book was always the character in which I was most interested. Interesting to hear that some of his backstory was revealed in graphic novel form. Maybe I will seek that out one of these days. I was really pissed at how Book was treated in Serenity. It just seemed like a wasted opportunity.

Re: Firefly Tenth anniversary 20 September 2002-12

I recall that in the pilot she took out a syringe when they thought they were gonna be boarded by Reavers. In the audio commentary, Whedon stated it was shot and edited with the intention of making you think she was going to kill herself with it but, had the series continued, we'd find out the true purpose of the syringe.

Wash and Book were my two favourite characters. Despite my really enjoying the movie, I was pissed how those two characters were handled.

As for the Shepard Book graphic novel, I read it's overpriced for the length and that it creates a plot whole.
Spoiler:
Book is revealed to not have left the Alliance but to have actually been literally kicked out. This then contradicts why the Alliance would rush to save his life when he was critically injured during one of the episodes of the show.

I really really enjoyed the anniversary special. Though, it did reiterate how much I fuckin miss this show.

They addressed this in the special.
Spoiler:

It was some sort of serum that would kill anyone that had sex with her. The storyline for that episode was supposed to be that Inara gets taken by Reavers. Mal fights to get on their ship and get her back. When he gets on the ship, Inara has been horribly abused but is alive and every Reaper on the ship is dead. Pretty dark stuff.

In regards to the Inara stuff I really wonder if Fox would have green lighted such a dark episode. I know Joss can "go there" but that's a little darker than I like.

It's certainly an interesting story, but my problem with it is that the Reavers will rape, kill, and eat you, but not necessarily in that order.

Fillion's episode idea was very good. Would have loved that episode.

I believe its included now in a collected set of various Serenity stories so you can feel better about the price. But $15 for a 60 to 70 page HC actually isn't overpriced either.

He didn't appear to make it to Comic Con for the panel, where the roundtable was recorded (you don't see him at the panel either).
http://www.buddytv.com/articles/fire...n-i-46545.aspx

It probably was some scheduling conflict or something. He made it to another Firefly panel at the Sci-Fi Expo in Feb 2012:

He also did an episode of the podcast The Critic Show back on Feb 29, 2012:
http://www.thecriticshow.com/all-shows/

He also participated in the new extra features for the Firefly Blu-ray: an audio commentary for "Our Mrs. Reynolds," and a half-hour Firefly Reunion both featuring Whedon, Fillion, Glass, and Tudyk.

It was interesting that Joss was present for the panel, but not the roundtable discussion. It did allow co-creator Tim Minear and writer Jose Molina to get some facetime though.

Edit: I would like to see the panel in its entirety. Anyone else hoping for a DVD/Blu-ray release of this special with the uncut panel video as a bonus feature?

I would totally buy the full version of the ComicCon Panel + Round Table discussion.

This special is being re-aired on Nov 20, at 7PM EST, before the channel premiere of Fringe.

Science has some deleted scenes from the roundtable up on their site:

I was surprised when they said this was the actress that plays Inara first acting job. I thought she was great in this and the short lived V.

I don't think that's true. Wikipedia lists her as appearing in two movies the year before Firefly. Maybe they meant that this was her first TV role.

She currently has a recurring role on Showtime's Homeland:

Maybe she meant it's the first acting role she had, versus standing in the background looking pretty?

She wasn't even originally cast in the role , Rebecca Gayheart was. It wasn't until filming had begun that they realized she was wrong for the part and Morena was cast.
