Re: 'Beverly Hills Cop: The Series' from Shawn Ryan & Eddie Murphy

I'm guessing they'll have Judge Reinhold be the chief of police in Beverly Hills. Hell, maybe have his son be the new partner of Axel's son.

This show writes itself!

I can't wait for the H50 crossover.

I too would rather see Murphy in BHC4 instead, but I would check this out.

Yea, I guess no way Jay Pharoah would leave a steady job at SNL for this show which most likely will be canceled.

Barry Sonnenfeld, who directed the Men in Black movies, signed on to direct the Pilot.

Also, Kevin Pollak signed on to the cast.

Re: 'Beverly Hills Cop: The Series' from Shawn Ryan & Eddie Murphy

I dont know why they just didn't make BHC IV...

Billy Rosewood and Axel Foley will get together again.

Judge Reinhold, who played by-the-book detective William "Billy" Rosewood in the "Beverly Hills Cop" movie series, has signed on for a cameo in CBS's "Beverly Hills Cop" pilot, an individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap.

Reinhold will reprise the role of Rosewood -- who has scored a big promotion from his old job. Murphy, who is serving as a producer, will also appear in the pilot, reprising his Axel Foley role.

CBS has not yet responded to TheWrap's request for comment.

The "Beverly Hills Cop" pilot, which comes from "The Shield" creator Shawn Ryan, is a continuation of the movie franchise, centered around Foley’s police officer son (Brandon T. Jackson), who takes down the criminal elements of the rich and famous in Beverly Hills.

Sony Television is producing the pilot, which will also star Kevin Pollak.

Let's hope Eddie puts some effort into his cameo. He's been walking thru his roles for way too long now.

Re: 'Beverly Hills Cop: The Series' from Shawn Ryan & Eddie Murphy

I'm still not 100% sold on this project (not that I feel BHC4 would've been much better with the way sequels to 80s franchises are doing these days), but being on CBS already has a strike against it. Their procedurals have a certain feel to them, and I honestly don't want another Hawaii Five-O/NCIS/NCIS:LA show where its solving a case with that forced, cheesy banter thrown in among characters. It's like a formula for the network.

Shawn Ryan being behind this is what has me interested the most, but even as showrunner I'm just wondering how far he can push the envelope on regular network TV. I guess we'll see. I want this to be good, but I think it would've fared better on cable.

Re: 'Beverly Hills Cop: The Series' from Shawn Ryan & Eddie Murphy

Just looking at CBS's current schedule, if this gets picked up, I think it will most likely end up on Fridays at 8 or 9pm.

Hawaii Five-O will probably stay on Mondays

Tuesdays will be all NCIS. I know there is a 3rd spinoff in the works and the 3rd spinoff will probably take the 10pm timeslot

Wednesday will go unchanged

Thursday will probably go unchanged

Sunday might be a possibility if they cancel The Mentalist

So Friday IMO is the most likely slot this could go in.

I thought I read where they are playing with Golden Boy on Tuesdays and moving Vegas to Fridays. Provided either show lasts.

I don't think Vegas will last, it's not very good.

Has CBS said yet what station they're going to air this on? Because they should forget Network and give it to Showtime...they can let the language and violence fly, throw in some nudity, and have to worry less about ratings. It will/would be a MUCH better show than trying to water it down for the Network.

It's being developed by Sony/Paramount for CBS. It's not a cable show.

From all the stories I read, it's being developed as a quirky comedy-drama-cop procedural.

And yeah you all may groan and moan saying...."Not another fucking procedural!" But, from a business sense it makes perfect sense. Procedurals get better ratings than serials and are easier to sell to overseas TV stations since they have better replay value. Also, they are easier to sell to cable networks for syndication. CBS has a formula that works and people watch their shows.

ABC is making a shitload of money off it's syndication deal with TNT for Castle. Same with CBS's syndication deal with TNT for H50.

...and it's dead. CBS felt it was too "retro." Go figure.

The last I read yes. Shawn Ryan has not said a thing about it on Twitter though.

Fixed...now I've got to get Axel Foley out of the Star Trek thread.
