With an average 0.4 demo rating and 2.3m viewers, I think they would be better off with a repeat of SVU. But it's always a gamble, and I'm sure they weren't out too bad by the end of it.

Excited that he's getting a new series, not so much that it's on NBC. I'm still definitely going to be checking it out though.

NBC seems to be a pretty solid home, they creatively let just about anything fly and stick with low (by other station standards) rated shows. Especially now that their golden goose (The Office) has been slaughtered (since Carrell left)

I guess they do have a better history with sitcoms. They seem pretty cancel happy sometimes with other shows though is my main concern.

As exciting as the news is, the show doesn't sound like much. Hopefully I am very wrong.

To be fair, the description is pretty vague. They left out a couple key components:

1. His wife is insanely hot

2. There's a "hilarious" neighborhood kid who drops in regularly for comic relief

Here's the first promo spot for "The Michael J. Fox Show". NBC has ordered a full-season pickup, set to premiere this fall.

Looks pretty good, fairly unique idea for a show.

Re: Michael J. Fox May Return to Television

I've been a huge fan of MJF for years. I was only two when Family Ties first aired but I still remember watching it when it was first on, and then of course Back to the Future and all the other stuff he has done over the years. I am very happy that he is able to be in good enough health to be able to do this. I really hope it ends up being solid, because I'll be watching for sure.

That...was the best trailer I've seen from both networks so far. Wow.

NBC may have been really lucky nabbing this.

Finally got to watch the trailer. Looks great. I loved Spin City, so I'd pretty much give any MJF show a shot. Plus it has Wendell Pierce.

Yeah, that delivered exactly what I like seeing from MJF, just basically being an all around good guy. I only keep up with a handful of shows, and this is definitely on my list.

Trailer looks great. I (obviously) am a MJF fan and am glad to see him to be able to accomplish something like this. I still wonder why NBC didn't give it the Thursday at 9 slot.

Re: Michael J. Fox May Return to Television

I love MJF, but in the past when he's been on other shows (Scrubs, etc) it's been a bit awkward because they've tried to play down his Parkinson's. This looks hilarious though. I'd tune in based on that trailer alone.

I never remember Wendell Pierce's name - then I saw "Bunk" in the trailer. I will watch this.

Wow, I agree. And I was already convinced that this wouldn't work (and that all the potential humor was already milked in that classic Curb episode last season). Still wonder how he'll hold up shooting 23 episodes a year. That's got to be exhausting -- especially on a single-camera series with what seems like a lot of exterior work.
