Buffy or Battlestar Galactica

Hey guys. Just finished the Sopranos and now I need a new show to delve into. I love Fantasy/Sci-fi so I know I'm most likely gonna like either show. Please help me pick the next one to start!

Silly fun or one of the three best drama series of all time--no contest.

I think you're overstating it a bit calling Battlestar Galactica "silly fun".

If you want great sci-fi try Babylon 5.

If you enjoyed the Muppet Show, give Farscape a shot!

This.

Buffy and BSG are both great, too. Honestly, whichever order you watch them in, all 3 are shows you should owe yourself to see before you die. Of the two, I say go with BSG first, since Buffy will take up more time, especially if you end up adding in 5 seasons of Angel (which you'll probably want to do once you get hooked).

Re: Buffy or Battlestar Galactica

Buffy is my choice, BSG is too long and does not have enough humor for me.

I can watch one Buffy show, then move on with my life. BSG is not a watch on show and movie on type show.

Shows that go on and on take to long to invest myself info them. I think this attitude 1st started with LOST, now I have shows like LOST that take to long to end.

Agreed. I love that show.

Buffy and BSG are both great and I cannot choose between either of them. Either way you go, you are in for a treat.

Re: Buffy or Battlestar Galactica

Both are great in their way, and you should watch both when you can. I think both shows take turns for the worse as they go along, but of the two BSG is a lot easier to marathon. It seems built on a foundation of making the viewer just have to see what comes next. Buffy is a bit more episodic in nature (though it does have larger plot arcs that span seasons).

Battlestar, easily IMO. I tried but just couldn't get into Buffy's oh-so-precious cutesyness. I did like Angel and Firefly though.

Re: Buffy or Battlestar Galactica

If you want to gouge your own eyeballs out about a season and a half in, go Battlestar.

If you want to watch an amazing show that helped shape modern TV, go Buffy.

You should read this thread too

bsg, b5, farscape, or x-files (which to watch first?)

Re: Buffy or Battlestar Galactica

I vote both, but it depends on what you're in the mood for. If you want something with more levity after a heavy show like the Sopranos, go Buffy. You will get far more comedy mixed in with your drama.

If you want to stay with a darker, even more dramatic show, go BSG. Far less humor there, but definitely a kickass show too.

The problem with Buffy is that you'll most likely want to watch Angel after you get done.

Re: Buffy or Battlestar Galactica

Experience them in the same order that most of us did...Buffy/Angel then BSG.

Though as someone else said, BSG is easier to marathon.

Re: Buffy or Battlestar Galactica

They're both hit & miss - though Buffy hits a lot more often than BSG, and BSG misses (and misses hard) far more than Buffy.
