Comedy Central Roast of Roseanne

I don't doubt that stuff like this is calculated for free promotion, but I don't see how cutting that joke raised awareness for the roast. Were the ETs and Extras of the world really making a big deal out of this?

Re: Comedy Central Roast of Roseanne
Just finished watching it. Much funnier than last year's Charlie Sheen roast imo. At least everyone there were actual friends of Roseanne and not just random people reading a script like William Shatner and Steve-O.

Great stuff... MUCH better than the Trump or Sheen roasts and no tool-box wannabe's roasting (I'm looking at you The Situation).

Even the one after midnight was censored. I know the Sheen Roast aired late night uncensored roughly a week or 2 later.
Someone post if they find that one.
I thought Roseanne's kids from the sitcom were supposed to roast her as well. But maybe they were just in the audience.

I thought overall it was pretty good, but it had some definite peaks and valleys.
And though it was censored, I think about all they actually bleeped was the f* and c* words. In fact one of the best lines was by Jeff Ross: "How many personalities do you have? Six? Seven? What are the chances they'd all be c*s?" Roseanne actually seemed to get genuinely pissed over that one.
Tom Arnold was awesome. Loved his line to her current man about how "...she may not be a perfect wife, but she is literally the worst ex-wife on the planet."
It cracked me up to see Blake Anderson (Workaholics) in the audience.

I don't care who you are, if you agree to do this and something I never knew (the people who get roasted invite the people who roast them), you should never get mad or even annoyed by any joke.
Your mentioning of seeing people in the audience reminded me of what I like least about these things. There are OFTEN celebrities in the audience who aren't so well known and they flash over to a crowd shot for 2 seconds and at least 3 or 4 times, I saw someone who looked familiar but couldn't place the face. Drove me crazy.

Comedy Central On Demand has 5 clips of different comedians from older roasts and 5 clips of Jeff Ross from older roasts. On Cablevision in NJ it's under the Free On Demand section.

According to Jeff Ross, she wasn't going to allow it but had a change of heart the night before. But it's no surprise that any roastee knows who is coming on the show.

I'm suprised they cut it because it is essentially a roast an anything goes. I mean Jeselnik talked about John Ritter dying right next to his co-star on that show! I cringed at that joke because I was a huge John Ritter fan, but its a roast so you can't be offended at anything.
But as Jeff Ross always says, "Too soon?"

another odd thing is Jeff Ross, as he mentioned on Stern, was that he thinks people go over the line too frequently. he specifically mentioned Whitney Cummings, stating she made too many jokes about Pam Anderson's vagina. it's weird to hear a guy say that, considering his material and what these roasts are about.

10-20 minutes each would be a REALLY long roast

This roast really worked because they actually had alot of Roseanne's friends there, so that makes the jokes funnier because they are sort of giving us the 'inside joke'. Some of the worst roasts were ones with Chevy Chase and Donald Trump where they had no real friends there and you have just a bunch of people ragging on them all night and sort of comes off as awkward alot of times.

I found this on an internet review of the roast:
5. A Controversial Joke Got Cut
Ross’ shock factor didn’t stop with his outfit. The comedian made a joke about the recent Aurora, Colo., shooting that was deemed too controversial to make it into the broadcast.
“Seth, congratulations. This is actually a great night for you,” said Ross to fellow roaster Seth Green. “You haven’t gotten this much attention since you shot all those people in Aurora.”
Green, like alleged shooter James Holmes on July 20 at a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises, has a full head of red hair.
“I’m kidding,” Ross continued. “You are not like James Holmes. At least he did something in a movie theater that people remember!”

What I'd like to know is, what the hell happened to Ellen Barkin's face?! She was squintier than Gilbert.
Yeah, I thought I saw a shot of her in the crowd. She looked good.

Dude, I thought she looked amazing and not just for her age. I had to do a quick search on my phone to figure out how old she is (58?!). She is a total GILF. My girlfriend got annoyed at me because I kept commenting on how hot she looked.

She did look pretty damn good. She has had a rock solid career, something you wouldn't expect to spawn from Married With Children. Same goes for Ed O'Neill and Christina Applegate.

All of the Comedy Central Roasts are pretty much the same to me. There's usually a few great moments and a bunch of good ones with a sprinkling of cringe-worthy moments. Also, these roasts now remind me of how much I miss Greg Giraldo.
