Re: Breaking Bad -- "Dead Freight" -- 8/12/12

It was a great ep., but I wish that hadn't of happened. Now they've got to hide the body, and there will be a huge search, presumedly out in that area. I was kind of liking non-angst Jesse, business-like, thinking of relatively smart ideas that actually work. I don't know, just adds a big element I kinda wish wasn't there but oh well.

The bug and keystroke logger (if that's what that was) were crazy bold moves. There's probably not that big of a chance of them being found, but I'm guessing they probably will be somehow (picture falls of desk, computer upgrade or whatever). I hope Hank finds out some other way though--that's too obvious--but when he does I hope he'll have a real Keyser Soze moment, where all the pieces flash back to Hank where it all makes sense.

What, they can't get their hands on more hydrofluoric acid?

I noticed that immediately, too. I think Walt has hit that point where he feels he's so much smarter than the authorities, and specifically so able to manipulate Hank, that he can basically get away with anything, so basic precautions that he might have considered earlier don't seem as important to him. I think this sort of sloppiness is going to come back to haunt him later.

Would any government agencies have Walt's prints on file? I don't think he's ever been arrested, correct?

If they suspected him they could obviously try and get prints from him after the fact, but if they had no reason to suspect him I would think the prints just come up no match.

I didn't think that Todd guy had it in him so I was surprised when he shot him. That's what I get for making assumptions on TV characters I barely know.

People can get printed for other things. I was printed years ago when I was robbed and some of the items got resold. They printed me to match up with the items to prove where they'd come from. Now, I don't know that they kept my prints on file, but I'm guessing they did.

I also like Heat reference early on - and the fact that Todd pulls a "Waingro" at the end.

I think that Hank is smart enough to connect the dots, since he just moved into the office that day and would know that he didn't have the ethernet device before. As far as fingerprints, remember that he got Gus's prints on a hunch.

Walt was a teacher, so I would imagine his prints are on file somewhere.

That makes sense. But we haven't been shown anything during the course of the series to make us think Walt's prints are on file. So if they were to come up with them via a method like you describe, that would seem kind of like a deus ex machina to me which I wouldn't expect from VG.

Ahh good point about him just moving in, although as far as he knows that stuff was there before he moved.

And I didn't realize they print teachers these days but I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Wow. For me, that was just epic...one of the best episodes of the series.

Don't fingerprints wear off after a couple weeks? I don't think Walt has too much to worry about.

Another great Mike episode. The interrogation scene had me on the edge of my seat.

Yes, teachers nowadays have to do FBI fingerprinting on a computer pad.

Do you guys really think that's how Hank is going to find out who Walt really is? Fingerprints?

Honestly, when he was told "no one else can know about this," I thought he gave a certain look that instantly made me think he was an undercover cop originally set up to take down the exterminators, but then realized he had something bigger to take down.

Then the last scene happened, so that theory is gone.

In season 2 Walt was picked up when he was naked in the conveniance store. I'm guessing they got his prints that night.

Re: Breaking Bad -- "Dead Freight" -- 8/12/12

Really phenomenal episode. I wasn't sure what to think of the opening at first. I thought the kid might be a younger version of someone in a flashback but the spider thing made no sense. The heist was intense and brilliantly edited.

I had an added bonus when watching this on my laptop that my battery was about to die and I was nowhere near an outlet. I was five minutes from the end of the show and my computer was flashing and beeping saying you MUST change batteries NOW! About five seconds after the credits came up, my computer shut down. My other battery was dead too.

Absolutely one of the finest episodes of the series. I can't wait to see it again.

I'm trying with all my might not to read any posts on this thread. I wasn't able to watch last night but will be rushing home at 4:15 PM EST to get my fix.

I don't get your joke. They were glad a spider was most likely going to die in a small jar exposed to the sun?
