If only Maurice Benard was anti-vax the show would finally be rid of Sonny.

The other three soaps don’t require a vaccine so I wouldn’t doubt they show up on one of them soon.

Burton has a history at Y&R, Rademacher at B&B.

If Maurice were anti-vax, I guarantee you GH would accommodate him.

No big loss for me that Burton is gone. He's basically been phoning it in since he returned in 17. Billy Miller was such a better Jason. He can act circles around Burton. His Jason wasn't Carley and Sonny's lapdog. He and Sam were building a business and life together. Once Miller was out and Burton returned, Jason became the lapdog to Sonny and Carley once again.

But why, though? Most GH viewers hate Sonny Corinthos and would celebrate the character finally being gone.

I don't think that's true at all. Maurice is basically their lead actor. He took the banner when Tony Geary left a few years back.

Well apparently they finally killed off Luke.

I just watched the ep that aired in the beginning of January that had Tracy return to announce the death.
Luke had been on a cable car that crashed and his remains were identified.

I have 45 back episodes on my dvr as I record it every day so I’m just doing a little catching up.

Looking further down the list there was a tribute episode on Jan 21st.

Realizing Geary was never coming back to the show I’m still not happy about this.
My wife still watches the recordings on our dvr but I’ve been looking for a reason to just delete this show mostly due to how stupid it’s been for so long.

Aren't soap operas just like comic books where they kill off characters only to bring them back a few months or years later saying that the death was simply faked? I'm sure if the ratings get that bad, they'll offer Tony Gerry enough money to reprise his role on the show again for a limited time.

He hasn’t been on the show for 7 years.
I’d be surprised if he ever comes back

I’ve never been a fan of soap operas but I did get hooked one summer 15 or 20 years ago when Days of Our Lives had a serial killer lurking about. Over several weeks the killer picked off cast regulars one by one. I don’t recall how it all ended but the serial killer ended up being someone’s evil twin or something and the people who were killed were really just captured and being held in a basement somewhere. Obviously I wasn’t expecting the entire cast to actually be killed off but finding out the serial killer was a nobody (as opposed to an actual character on the show) and the “victims” all returned, it was quite the letdown where I realized that ultimately there were no real stakes in these shows.

The storyline was enough to catch my attention for a few weeks so I guess it did what it was intending. I haven’t watched another soap since then though.

There's something fishy going on with Luke's "death." I don't believe for one second Luke Spencer, who survived being hunted by the mob for so many years, gets taken out by a cable car. He's been gone for so long, it doesn't make sense to up and kill him for no reason. This has to be part of a bigger plot that will be revealed as time goes by. Besides, every major character on that show has been "killed" three or four times. Never say never in the world of soaps.

General Hospital once had a guy on it that invented a machine that could control the weather. Another storyline had a Martian that visited Port Charles. Sometimes the ghosts of dead characters have haunted the other characters. The last one may have been One Life to Live, but soaps have had just as crazy storylines as comics and dead is almost never really dead in soaps either.

Luke is one of those characters that could never be recast. Just like Erica on All My Children, or Victor on the Young and the Restless; those actors are too iconic.

I think the whole Luke is Dead story came along because they were hoping to lure Geary back for some summer episodes this year. But if he's coming back, they've kept it under the radar, because there's no indication that's happening. I agree it seems rather odd that they'd burn that particular bridge.

'GENERAL HOSPITAL' STEVE BURTON: MY WIFE'S HAVING A BABY ...Thing Is, It's Not Mine.

Steve Burton says his wife is having a baby, but he's not jumping for joy ... revealing the baby-to-be isn't his.
In a scenario that could happen on the soap itself ... Steve revealed his wife, Sheree Gustin, was pregnant -- but he "wanted to clear something up." Steve goes on to say, "The child is not mine. We are still co-parenting our three beautiful kids."

'General Hospital' Star Steve Burton Says Pregnant Wife's Kid Isn't His (tmz.com)

Wow, I bet that was a kick in the gut for Burton.

I just deleted 50 episodes off my dvr, watched a couple a to see what’s going on.
Didn’t miss a thing.

I'm about a week behind. But yeah there's a bunch of storylines that need to speed up/get resolved. The teens/sex tape/Esme stuff. Nina/Sonny/Carly/Wiley stuff. Liz and her stalker. And I don't really care about Sasha/Brando/Gladys and Sasha's pill popping.

Only stuff I'm into at the moment is Anna/Valentine/ice princess stuff, and the Selina Wu character is interesting/fun so far.

Re: The GENERAL HOSPITAL Discussion Thread

Looks like they were hinting at Esme being Ryan and Felicia’s daughter but it feels like that would essentially be impossible.
The timeline doesn’t make sense and and don’t remember anything about then being together and her giving up a baby.
Ryan said to Esme that he learned his lesson and would never turn his back on her mother again and they immediately cut to a really old scene of Felicia stabbing Ryan.

Sonya Eddy, ‘General Hospital’ Actor, Dies at 55.

Sonya Eddy, best known for her role as Epiphany Johnson on the ABC soap opera “General Hospital,” has died at 55, Variety has confirmed.

“I am heartbroken about the loss of the incredible Sonya Eddy. I truly loved her not only as an actress, but as a friend. The lights in the hub of the nurse’s station will now be a little dimmer, but her spirit and light will live on in both the show and our set.

On behalf of the entire GH cast and crew, we send our deepest sympathy to her family, friends and fans. She will be very missed.” Frank Valentini, “General Hospital” executive producer, said in a statement.

“She left an indelible imprint in every person that she touched, through the screen and off,” Tyler Ford, her producing partner at Eddy Ford Entertainment, said in a statement.

She was born in Concord, Calif., on June 17, 1967, and began her foray into acting in college, studying theatre and dance at the University of California, Davis. She received her bachelors of arts degree in 1992, but began her acting career with Ruby Dee’s play “Zora Is My Name” in 1990. Eddy’s additional stage credits include “The Comedy of Errors,” portraying The Witch in Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods” and playing Bloody Mary in “South Pacific.”

Her career in television spans roles on shows such as “Married…With Children,” “The Drew Carey Show,” “Murphy Brown,” “Seinfeld,” “Home Improvement” and a recurring role in “Joan of Arcadia.” In addition to her tenured role as Epiphany Johnson on “General Hospital,” Eddy also played the character in the show’s primetime spinoff series, “General Hospital: Night Shift,” and was upped to a main cast member on the short-lived series.

“The world lost another creative angel,” Eddy’s friend and fellow actor Octavia Spencer wrote on Instagram. “Her legions of ‘General Hospital’ fans will miss her.”

Eddy joined the long-running hospital drama in 2006 as the frank, no-nonsense nurse, and played the role for 543 episodes, appearing as recently as this past October. The character served as head nurse, and was the mother to Stan Johnson (played by Kiko Ellsworth) who was killed off from the show in 2007 following a mob hit. In real life, Eddy was also a licensed vocational nurse.

Such a heartbreaking loss. I absolutely loved her on GH. She was such a great actress and will be missed. RIP.

That’s a tough loss.

Loved her appearance on Seinfeld.

As Rebecca DeMornay she flagged the book George took into the bathroom.

'General Hospital' Actress Jacklyn Zeman Dead at Age 70.

'General Hospital' Star Jacklyn Zeman Dead at 70 (people.com)

Needless to say, this is like a punch in the gut for me. She started GH in 1977, when I was just an eight-year-old boy watching the soaps with my Grandmother. I grew up watching her as a kid, a teen, a young adult and now, an old fart. I can't remember a time in my life without seeing her smiling face on the show. She hasn't had as much screen time as she used to, but when she was on, it was always something special to watch. Rest in Peace.
