Question from someone who hasn't read the books: Stannis (the guy who just banged the...witch? sorceress?) is Robert's brother and they have one other brother who also feels he's the true heir? I ask since he said "I can't beat my brother"
Have they shown this other brother?
Have they shown this other brother?

"You've perfected the art of tearing up paper."
Best line of the night IMO. Theon's humiliation by his sister was just as grueling to watch as it was to read, especially while watching him hit on her. This ep. further illustrated how much they have upped the production values.
I really didn't care for them showing Stannis mount Melisandre, seemed kind of gratuitous, but aside from that , really liked the ep.

Eh - I kinda thought this was a relatively uneventful episode. Mostly just build up, but that's ok.
Question I should have figured out by now - who is that guy that travels with Daenerys that basically acts as her advisor? In tonight's episode...

From the first book:
Jorah is from King's Landing, or that area. In the first book he states he is still loyal to the Targeryans, which is why he fled to the Free Cities. He absolutely hated Ned Stark from when Ned and Richard overthrew the old king, and gave the perspective in the first book that he wanted to kill Ned Stark if given the chance.

Renly (the gay one) is his younger brother.
They're both making plays for the Iron Throne.
Robert generally favored Renly, and Stannis is kind of asshole that nobody likes, so Renly thinks he has more of a shot at taking and keeping the throne than Stannis.

If you remember, he was seen on the series last season and argued with Ned for the crown when King Robert was dying, but Ned insisted that Stannis, his older brother, was the rightful heir.
(Stannis was only mentioned in dialogue and never actually seen last season.)

I can't keep most of the ancilliary characters straight nowadays, pretty much can ID about 7-8 characters (and some by who did diddled, and not quite by name. LOL).

When I see them I can generally tell you who their allegiance is to, but am pretty lackluster with the names and even backgrounds. Guess it helps a lot if you read the books.

Robert Baratheon was the king to start the first season, died by boar
Stannis Baratheon is his brother, claims he's the true heir, is with the Red Priestess, was not in season 1, only mentioned
Renly Baratheon also his brother, is also claiming the throne, he was in the first season, on the small council, was on the boar hunt with Robert, and was shaved and blown by the Knight of Flowers
