Synopsis:

Spoiler:
On a mission for Robb Stark, Theon returns home for the first time in nine years, but time has not dulled his father's bitterness at losing his only surviving son to Winterfell. Meanwhile, Tyrion makes his presence felt as the Hand of the King, though not necessarily to the satisfaction of others in the royal court; Gendry is shocked by Arya's revelation on the road north; and Davos seeks naval power from an old acquaintance, the pirate Salladhor Saan.

I enjoyed Melisandres boobies

Good cliffhanger there at the end also

Question from someone who hasn't read the books: Stannis (the guy who just banged the...witch? sorceress?) is Robert's brother and they have one other brother who also feels he's the true heir? I ask since he said "I can't beat my brother"
Have they shown this other brother?

"You've perfected the art of tearing up paper." Best line of the night IMO. Theon's humiliation by his sister was just as grueling to watch as it was to read, especially while watching him hit on her. This ep. further illustrated how much they have upped the production values.

I really didn't care for them showing Stannis mount Melisandre, seemed kind of gratuitous, but aside from that , really liked the ep.

Isn't the other brother the gay one we saw last season in Kings Landing?

See, my problem with Melisandre was that I always envisioned Christina Hendricks while reading, and I would have rather seen her boobies. This version was a let down by my imagination's standards, but I doubt that standard will ever be met. :(

Yes, it's Renly.

Eh - I kinda thought this was a relatively uneventful episode. Mostly just build up, but that's ok.

Question I should have figured out by now - who is that guy that travels with Daenerys that basically acts as her advisor? In tonight's episode...

Spoiler:
He is the one who opens the bag on the horse and finds the head

We aren't thinking of the same people, I'm talking about Robert Baratheon. I was asking if he has multiple brothers, not just Stannis, going for the throne.

From the first book:

Jorah is from King's Landing, or that area. In the first book he states he is still loyal to the Targeryans, which is why he fled to the Free Cities. He absolutely hated Ned Stark from when Ned and Richard overthrew the old king, and gave the perspective in the first book that he wanted to kill Ned Stark if given the chance.

As the other folks have stated, Renly, the younger brother, was in a few scenes in Season 1. He was sleeping with the Knight of Flowers after the tournament early on. He was also shown just before they turn on Ned Stark, he asked Ned Stark to join him. Ned turned him down stating that Renly also has no legitimate claim to the throne.

Robert had two brothers, Stannis and Renly. Stannis is the eldest brother, and next in line for throne since none of Robert's children are actually his.

Renly (the gay one) is his younger brother.

They're both making plays for the Iron Throne.

Robert generally favored Renly, and Stannis is kind of asshole that nobody likes, so Renly thinks he has more of a shot at taking and keeping the throne than Stannis.

Renly Baratheon:

If you remember, he was seen on the series last season and argued with Ned for the crown when King Robert was dying, but Ned insisted that Stannis, his older brother, was the rightful heir.

(Stannis was only mentioned in dialogue and never actually seen last season.)

I can't keep most of the ancilliary characters straight nowadays, pretty much can ID about 7-8 characters (and some by who did diddled, and not quite by name. LOL).

Haha - me too. I am getting better with each episode.

When I see them I can generally tell you who their allegiance is to, but am pretty lackluster with the names and even backgrounds. Guess it helps a lot if you read the books.

Robert Baratheon was the king to start the first season, died by boar

Stannis Baratheon is his brother, claims he's the true heir, is with the Red Priestess, was not in season 1, only mentioned

Renly Baratheon also his brother, is also claiming the throne, he was in the first season, on the small council, was on the boar hunt with Robert, and was shaved and blown by the Knight of Flowers

Just realized that HBO's website has tons of info on all the characters. A useful reference.

If I remember correctly I think its a little different. Ill spoiler it just in case. Please correct me if Im wrong.

Spoiler:
Jorah is from the north, Bear Island. he caught some poachers on his land and he sold them as slaves. Ned Stark sentenced Jorah to death for selling slaves and so he fled to the free cities. I think there is more backstory as well but im not sure what book its from so ill just leave it at that.

That's essentially it. He's also (I'm spoilering this just in case, but I'm 99% sure all the pieces were there in the first season, you just had to connect the dots from names and stories)
Spoiler:
Lord Commander Mormont's son; the guy leading the Night's Watch
