I was hoping this would pan out but frankly i tried to watch it and it seemed that there were too many plots, sub plots and even sub-sub plots going on. I missed onE show and was totally lost on the second.
Shame but it seems there has been some pretty good series over the years that worked but didn't get a second shot. I actually like Invasion and what's up with Falling Skies

Well that's not a surprise considering which you missed as FOX per usual dicked around with the episode order when airing them. (Why do they ever think this practice is wise?)

They certainly know more about their business than the general public does. Do you think they do that on a whim? Lemme guess ... Firefly fan?

The only way Netflix will pick this up is if they can use sock puppets and card board cut-outs for the dinosaur effects.

Re: FOX cancels Terra Nova
Firefly is just the worst example because the pilot episode (which presents the exposition for the series) wasn't shown first thus confusing viewers from the very first moments of the show. I don't think they do it on a whim, but I also think that they meddle in the production of shows and proceed to screw them up.

The pattern is that they couldn't find an audience. How many other shows have been re-sequenced and succeeded? You are building a false case as an excuse to blame anyone but Whedon, Fuller etc. No evidence it is because of changing the air order. Do you really believe a Western Scifi could succeed on modern network TV? Maybe in the 1970's (BSG WWW) or on SyFy.

It's not a sci fi or a western, it's just the latest example of FOX fucking around with the episode order.
New Girl wasn't created by Joss Whedon or Bryan Fuller either.
Oh, and it's also a hit show that's not struggling to find an audience.
No false excuses here.

Yeah, FOX doesn't give a fuck about story arcs, character development or what fans like. They care about $$$ and maximized viewership. The proof is in their track record.

I agree. What I don't understand is the reasoning in thinking that screwing up the story arcs would have that effect.

I think my main problem with the show was that the characters (and some of the actors) I just found grating and completely uninterested in

I would assume it's easier/cheaper in the long run to shoot 22 versus ramp up production, sets, etc. for multiple shorter seasons.

The deal with FOX was that if they wanted a second season it would have to be for 22 episodes. Now that FOX is done with the show, I don't think that anyone else picking up the show would be held to the 22 episode deal. Though they still may determine it makes sense economically to do 22 episodes.

American Horror Story had only 13 episodes in it's first season and it wound up it's storylines - and it was the best thing on TV last year.

There's probably some Breaking Bad and Homeland fans that would disagree with your choice of best thing on TV last year, but that's not really a debate for this thread

Netflix needs to team with a network on this to split the costs. They could be the exclusive On Demand home for the series, but the network would get to air them as well. Steven Lang's comments about the show (comparing it to the Hubble...broken, but then fixed) were great...and I'm impressed he believes enough in the show to want it to continue - he's probably not hurting for job offers. Or maybe he just has a nice Season 2 bonus built into his contract.

Well, you can at least relive your favorite action scenes with a nerf gun.
Nerf guns sports seriously cool looks. So much so, in fact, that they've shown up as props in at least one big-budget TV show: alongside the dinosaurs and time-traveling shenanigans in last year's Terra Nova. Both altered and unaltered Nerf weapons were used as futuristic firearms in various episodes of the show, although the production team at least went to the trouble to paint the day-glo toys black. Perhaps they didn't want to startle the dinos.

Apparently SyFy may run this show as well (repeats, obviously) along with Dollhouse. They are going for the canceled Fox shows Marathon.
