I've never watched this before (seen a couple seasons of the "regular" edition), but I'm tuning in due to some of the participants (in particular Jillette and Takei).

A collection of attention whores all vying for camera time and to be the biggest drama queen of prime-time.

I'm a reality show virgin (unless you count stuff like Mythbusters or Man vs. Wild) but I'm tuning in for the first time for the cast.

For tonight that will conflict with this:

9pm:

Desperate Housewives
The Good Wife
Luck
Shameless
The Walking Dead
Family Guy
American Dad

10pm

Eastbound and Down
CSI Miami
Pan Am
Hous of Lies
Californication
The Amazing Race is also on an hour before, but tends to run late because of sporting events.

Less so now that football season is over (that said, it happened tonight due to PGA).

Re: The Celebrity Apprentice -- Season 5 Thread -- Sundays (NBC)

Once again, it really feels like they stretched to fill the female team. They're really hurting for recognizable faces this year... if that Real Housewife chick is their 'biggest draw' on the street, they're in for trouble. And Aubrey O'Day's ego is hilarious, acting like she's some huge superstar.

And Debbie Gibson kept talking about her musical talents, but in that little snippet they showed of her singing with Wyclef, she sounded awful. Even at her peak she was never the greatest singer, but these days she's a fraction of even that. Just saw this vid of her on GMA last year... she sounds like a drunk girl doing Debbie Gibson at a karaoke bar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afh2DJTeOpo I'll give her credit for one thing in that clip, she's still in great shape.

Clay Aiken might be a dark horse here. He seems to have a bit of savvy I wasn't expecting. And Penn is a pretty smart guy... if he can apply that to this game he may go far.

Re: The Celebrity Apprentice -- Season 5 Thread -- Sundays (NBC)

my thoughts:

arsenio hall, how old is this guy now?, he still looks the same... i remember him on doing a cameo on the dave chapelle show years ago but before that he just went off the radar...must got alot of money

debbie gibson... this chick has an overinflated view of herself, dont nobody care about her

aubrey o'day... oh boy, this chick for some reason thinks people care about her...aint NOBODY checking for aubrey o'day... her ego is incredible. and she used to be so cute and talented before she started craving all this celebrity shit. her face looks botoxed, bugged out eyes and she has koolaid in her hair...

the female team leader... love her accent

That was pretty fun. I was definitely thinking the male team has better name recognition than the gals. Agree about Gibson and O'Day.

Case in point, you know the girl team is lacking recognition when the first team leader played the second of three Martas in Arrested Development.

Clay Aiken reminds me of a young Robert California.

Re: The Celebrity Apprentice -- Season 5 Thread -- Sundays (NBC)

That was a pretty lame first episode. So the men's team wins because the team leader was able to get one of his friends to donate 300 grand for a sandwich? So all that work the teams put into the competition and it really just comes down to somebody making a phone call to one of his buddies to make a ginormous donation that completely obliterates the entire amount the other team made?

Trump should put a limit on the amount that a single person can donate to the competition or else next time he might as well just ask the two team leaders right at the beginning who can get the highest donor and then end it right there.

Meanwhile, as expected, Corolla was the funniest thing on the show. Hopefully he makes it to the finals although I think Dee Snider will give him some tough competition.

Paul Sr. shot his load and I'm fairly certain he will be gone pretty early. I think Penn will do the same thing. Those 2 actually have things going on outside of the show so they come on get their charity some money and are quickly "fired".

He probably has more common sense than most of the cast, but will that be enough?

I loved the "white kids without iPads" charity.

I've never watched Celebrity Apprentice before. The men all seemed pretty competent. Paul Sr. was surprisingly competent, because all I've ever seen him do is yell and slam the office door. The women were mostly attention whores. The chief attribute of about half of them was to have been born pretty, and being able to afford Botox. I figure that the comedienne will be one of the first to go, because she's not skinny like the others.

I think this is a pretty strong season. Can't wait for the fireworks and 'head butting' to begin *evil laugh* Cheering for Takei and Lampanelli

It's still early. The guys will implode eventually.

If I was there I'd be insulted by the mob jokes and ask Trump directly "So you're counting as a celebrity someone whose father was a gangster and ordered people murdered and she was able to profit off of it and you're laughing about it?"

This has to be the most bloated 2 hour spot in TV history. I think they were in the board room at the 1hour 11 min mark.

To everyone watching for the first time, DVR it and start watching around 9:30-9:45. Guaranteed you will catch up by 11.

As a new viewer, the boardroom was the only thing that really dragged down the show. Way too fucking long.

Cheryl's firing took longer than a Minnesota Goodbye.

Yeah I thought so too. I haven't watched Apprentice in years. I'd be happy if they showed the guys about 90% of the time, some shots of the women occasionally for eye candy (other than Lampanelli, there is almost no entertainment value there), and then just spend a few minutes on the boardroom.
