Top 10 of 2011
Since this is such a dead time for TV talk, I thought I'd do this again this year. I know I had a new number one this year (to be fair Mad Men didn't air in 2011).
1. Game of Thrones
2. Boardwalk Empire
3. Breaking Bad
4. Curb Your Enthusiasm
5. Bored to Death
6. Downton Abbey
7. Wilfred
8. Treme
9. Louie
10. Southland
Honorable mention: Homeland, Parks and Rec, FNL, Fringe, The Office (spring only)
Thoughts...Game of Thrones was easily the best show in total this year. Boardwalk had a real nice second season and jumped up the list significantly with the last couple of episodes. Breaking Bad started a little slow, but closed with a bang. Never thought Curb would be end up lower than 3, but Boardwalk Empire pulled a chat and cut. I'll miss Bored to Death; it was brilliantly absurd. I love that British shit (Downton Abbey); I may move to England. I enjoyed the American Wilfred more than the original. I thought Treme found a better balance this year between the storytelling and the music.

I'll give some random thoughts as well:
Wilfred is probably my favorite show that aired this year, but I am also enjoying the heck out of Revenge. Breaking Bad is, technically, the best show of the year. I also enjoyed Homeland even with its over the top twists and the high suspension of disbelief factor.
White Collar and Suits are probably the most enjoyable shows I watch.
Curb Your Enthusiasm had a good year as well with Palestinian Chicken being my favorite comedy episode this year.
Save the last two episodes that aired, Happy Endings is great comedy.
I'm also really getting into Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
And I'm really into The Secret Circle and I hope it keeps up the teenaged thrills.
Edit: Had to put in Shameless. I guess the idea of it airing so early this year threw me off.

1. Breaking Bad - Unique and unpredictable. The best-crafted and best-acted show on TV.
2. Parks and Rec- Once I got to know the characters, this quickly became my favorite comedy. I can't think of a single weak episode this year.
3. Nikita - Why isn't everyone watching this show? It hit it's stride early in Season 1, and hasn't looked back since.
4. The Vampire Diaries - I love the breakneck pace at which the plots move. Stefan's turn to the dark side has been the highlight this year.
5. Revenge - Nice soapy fun, with some good twists and turns. Love Emily VanCamp in this.
6. Modern Family - Just a good old-fashioned sitcom, with snappy writing and great cast chemistry.
7. Community - The most creative show on TV. Some episodes miss, but that's to be expected when a show takes chances. (Please don't be canceled!)
8. Eureka - Whimsical fun, and a great Christmas episode.
9. Justified - Mags Bennett made a great villain. When it's at its best, listening to the dialogue on this show is like drinking fine Kentucky bourbon.
10. Wilfred - Wonderfully weird and funny. A real surprise.

Something like this is obviously highly subjective. On my personal list Game of Thrones was easily number one. You offered no counter point except to say that my opinion was wrong. Ok...thanks.

1) Homeland
2) Strike Back
3) Game of Thrones
4) Nikita
5) Switched at Birth
6) Parenthood
7) Revenge -- The best new soap opera I've seen in years.
8) The Vampire Diaries
9) Southland
10) Once Upon A Time
It's pretty hard to put together a Top 10 list for 2011 because your dealing with the back half of last season and the 1st 9-10 episodes of this season with the exception of some cable shows that ran 10-16 episodes and completed their runs in this calendar year.

Re: Top 10 of 2011
That may be one of the reasons why everything that ended on my list is a cable show. I also think it's hard for network shows to sustain quality for that many episodes. That would work to the advantage for a show like Revenge that's on your list. I like the show quite a bit too, but there is a camp element that might start wearing a little thin if we were to judge it beyond it's fall season.

No particular order:
Boss (Kelsey Grammer was spectacular in this)
Game of Thrones
Breaking Bad
Justified
Strike Back (mindless fun now that 24 is gone, and this has more action)
Fringe (back half of last season)
Boardwalk Empire
Downton Abbey (1st season was better than the 2nd)
The Killing
I'll save the 10th spot for when I get caught up with Homeland, Dexter, Walking Dead and Revenge.

I finished season 2 the other night and agree 100% with this. This and Homeland feel like the 2 shows where it seemed like the writers/creators had most everything figured out before hand (and not like 24 and sometimes lost where it seemed like they were making shit up as they went along)

Totally agree. Was thinking it, but didn't type it out. Nudity and sex scene in pretty much every episode.
