I though it was decent except for Colm Meaney who was pretty fucking terrible throughout. And his final monologue was just embarrasing. He could at least have had a head in a box to talk to.

Better than expected. Shame about Ted Levine though, he was the best character. Really liked how they handled the Indian attack.

Yeah, he was a bit over the top throughout....

I liked the corruption on the transcontinental, including the Credit Mobilier (sp?) scheme, the government subsidies, the lack of a desire to build an efficient track route, etc. Just recently finished reading "Nothing Like It in the World" by Stephen Ambrose on the transcontinental efforts and would recommend it to folks interested in that subject matter.

The acting may have been a bit over the top (specifically Colm) but the subject matter seemed pretty decent and in line with what went on in those days.

Yeah...too bad it's not on HBO or Showtime.

Second best show on Sunday nights featuring scalping.

Enjoyed it quite a bit. Looking forward to seeing how it progresses.

Not only that, and I wasnt watching in HD, but was that arrow the chick pulled out steel tipped, like common arrows? So after the civil war Indians no longer used real arrow heads.

Show was "meh" Killing off Levine was a huge mistake and that Common did it was even shittier since that guy was about to get info and than becomes friends with him? And whats up with that stupid song they played when Bohan arrived, than followed by a song from the O Brohter WHere art Thou soundtrack.... now that I think about it... I didnt really like this show

I really enjoyed the show. But those last few minutes with that over the top monologue were just ridiculous.

I don't get the complaints about Durant's speech at the end. Yeah it was a little over the top, but I think that is how the character is. Plus, isn't Colm Meaney already a little over the top as an actor anyways?

Just finished it up. Really liked it. Pretty fast paced pilot, and things didn't get boring, for me. Looking forward to seeing next week. Added it to my watchlist, for sure. Pretty cool to see a western on tv. I've always been a fan of them.

I vote meh. After viewing this the middling reviews seem about right to me. The show has undeniably beautiful production values, but unfortunately, that was about the extent of my appreciation.

Regardless, I'll stick around and see how it progresses.

At the beginning, how did he know that guy would go into that exact confessional at that exact time?

It was just plain bad writing and even worse acting. Add to that the fact that he was just talking into thin air. The whole scene was stupid.

He might generally be over the top as an actor but in this he's also BAD.

Colm Meaney almost single-handedly ruined this pilot. An awful, grating performance that was wildly out of place with every other character. Other than that mistake, a decent episode that shows promise for the future. Common is in over his head as an actor, I'm not sure it was wise casting him on a weekly drama.

Does the main character remind anyone else of Viggo Mortensen? And yeah, Colm Meaney needs to simmer down a bit. He actually does make me think of Chief O'Brien chewing up some holodeck performace.

I've been looking forward to this and really liked it. My only complaints are that Colm Meaney monologue..I was thinking..WTF is this?! And Levine, didn't realize he wasn't going to be a regular. Bummer there.
