Going in with low expectations, the majority of reviews I've seen have said it isn't very good.

I read Alan Sepinwall's review and he called it a By the Numbers Western.

Bottom line, don't go into this show expecting Deadwood Part Deux.

I don't know how anyone could watch the previews for this and expect it to be Deadwood. It doesn't look anything like it at all.

Thank God this aint deadwood. Last thing we need is another incomplete Shakespearean wanna be mess.

Im in but lost faith when the lead came out in Crossroads with Brittany Spears and another lead is named Common. Only 10 eps? That may be a blessing.

I have a soft spot for all things Western, so I really liked it. I think the show has alot of potential.

It killed me watching Common Sense massacre that blade on that stone. You could not have cut warm butter with that knife after his 'sharpening job'.

Very good episode, I'll certainly keep watching as long as they keep it up. Not as good as Deadwood, of course, but I wasn't expecting that.

A good "one-two punch" coupled with The Walking dead.

I thought it was ok.

Mount was decent as the lead, and it's a shame they killed off Ted Levine's character already.

I don't know if this show to avoid Deadwood comparisons or not, but the monologue at the end was an awful attempt at trying and copy one of Swearengen's monologues.

I thought it was pretty good. The setup was a little slow, but I liked the payoff at the end when Bohannon confronted Levine's character. Now we apparently have a mystery baddie along with Durant.

:thumbsup: Loved the Indian attack on the camp. That was really suspenseful and well directed. -eek- at the scalping part.

Lilly Bell stuffing the arrow in the Indian's head was awesome.

I'm familiar with Anson Mount and he was barely recognizable. I do like the look. I remember him from an old ABC series called "Line of Fire" and he looks nothing at all like he does now with the beard and greasy long hair.

The way I heard this show described was that it was a live action Red Dead Redemption. To a certain extent, I suppose the pilot was, though obviously not exactly (RDR takes place 40 years later at the death of the old west).

I liked more of it than I disliked. And I'd say I enjoyed it more than The Walking Dead, which has stopped moving even at a Snail's pace.

I really enjoyed this one way more than I thought I would.

It's too bad they killed off Ted Levine's character so early but maybe he'll appear in flashbacks to the "Meridian" thing.

Although I am curious why Anson Mount's character is out for vengeance in the first place if he thought his wife killed herself. But I'm sure that'll be addressed soon enough.
