Directv Customers could lose Newscorp?Fox stations on November 1st

Yet another carriage dispute. I stumbled across a thread over on DBSTALK.com regarding this. Both Directv and Newscorp/Fox have set up their own website, each basically blaming the other for the dispute. You can type in your zip code to see if you're affected. I'm included and will not be happy if I lose FX as I just started watching American Horror Story.

One of the most important things to keep in mind: LOCAL FOX CHANNELS AND FOX NEWS ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THIS DISPUTE.

Directv: http://www.ourpromisetoyou.com/

Newscorp/Fox: http://www.keepmynets.com/

Hopefully an agreement will be reached within the next 10 days.

GASP!
My life will definitely not be the same w/o my daily dose of Shep!
The 3pm Shep not the 7pm Shep (he's not as funny at 7 as he is at 3)

Seriously, if I have to watch CNN or MSNBC ( ) for my news, I will not be happy.

Another one of these things? I'm with TallGuyMe that the only one of those I really care about is FX. I'm sure they will reach some last-minute agreement.

Sorry, I should have also mentioned that FOX NEWS is NOT affected by this dispute either.

Yeah, I just checked and I see it's not.
I should have checked before I posted.
Whew!

Well.. the only thing I'm watching on FX right now is American Horror Story .. and if I can't watch it, I'll have to find it else where.
This better be resolved by the time Justified airs.

On the website losemynets, they state that some markets may lose local fox affiliates.

Plus, soon, some could lose the following local FOX stations:

Atlanta : WAGA – FOX 5
Austin : KTVC – FOX 7
Dallas : KDFW – FOX 4, My Network TV KDFI – 27
Detroit : WJBK – FOX 2
Gainesville : WOGX – FOX 51
Houston : KRIV – FOX 26, My Network TV KTXH – 27
Los Angeles : KTTV – FOX 11, My Network TV KCOP – 13
Memphis : WHBQ – FOX 13
Minneapolis : KMSP – FOX 9, My Network TV WFTC – FOX 29
Orlando : WOFL – FOX 35, My Network TV WRVW – 65
Phoenix : KSAZ – FOX 10, My Network TV KUTP – FOX 45
Tampa : WTVT – FOX 13

Thankfully the regional Fox sports network was bought by Root sports..so that won't be impacted.

This would really suck. Does anyone know if Comcrap has Sunny, The League, and SOA in their VOD? Worst comes to worse, I could watch those over Thanksgiving at my mom's house.

Then losing the FSNs would suck for my sportspack for college football and hoops.

Interesting timing since Fox just won the rights to air the world cup for 2018 and 2022, beating ESPN, and Telemundo beat out Univision for that.

Re: Directv Customers could lose Newscorp?Fox stations on November 1st

FX would only be bad for The League. No sports on right now on my RSN, so I wouldn't care about that. Although, my RSN is a Fox O&O station, so I'd lose that. I'd have to get an OTA for the locals, which wouldn't be the end of the world, but just a PITA.

Re: Directv Customers could lose Newscorp?Fox stations on November 1st

I'm about at the tipping point where $80 for a base package of a bunch of commercial riddled channels is not seeming like such a good deal anymore anyway. Sure, I enjoy some of the better basic cable series but I'm really questioning whether it worth almost $1,000 per year.

And now my bill is likely going to go up even further for a group of channels I barely watch. No thanks.

SERIOUSLY--this is getting old. I pay a TON each month as a D* customer (and have for almost 10 years), and if I lose FX (Sons of Anarchy, The Justified, UFC moving there soon), that'll be the last straw. AT&T/U-verse will cover any early cancellation fee, so I may finally take them up on their multiple offers. Enough already.

nobody is losing any channels. the deal will get worked out and we'll end up paying for it next year in a price increase.

Several years ago the same thing happened between Fox and Dish, with the exact same channels affected. Lasted for exactly 28 days. So, to say that no one will lose any channels over this at all, even for a day or two, is not an informed view.

I didn't realize that Dish and DirecTv were the same company. A deal will get done before the deadline. Mark my words. DirecTV is the largest provider in the US. No way this doesn't get done. Also, considering that News Corp used to have an ownership in DirecTv, I'd say they probably have a far better relationship with DirecTV.

Before long, there will be nothing on DirecTV except for ESPN, QVC, premium movie channels, pay-per-view, premium sports packages, foreign language shit, and 300 infomercial channels.

DTV is also the 'sports-leader' and we went without VS for about 5 months a few years ago during hockey season. If it gets done, it gets done, but it's not something I necessarily would bet the farm on.
