American Horror Story -- "Pilot" -- 10/5/2011 (10PM FX)
American Horror Story revolves around the Harmons, a family of three who moved from Boston to Los Angeles as a means to reconcile past anguish. The all-star cast features Dylan McDermott as “Ben Harmon,” a psychiatrist; Connie Britton as “Vivien Harmon,” Ben’s wife; Taissa Farmiga as “Violet,” the Harmon’s teenage daughter; Jessica Lange in her first-ever regular series TV role as “Constance,” the Harmon’s neighbor; Evan Peters plays “Tate Langdon,” one of Ben’s patients; and Denis O’Hare as “Larry Harvey.” Guest stars for the series include Frances Conroy as the Harmon’s housekeeper; Alexandra Breckenridge as the Harmon’s housekeeper; and Jamie Brewer as Constance’s daughter.
The pilot episode of American Horror Story, shot in Los Angeles, was written by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, and it was directed by Murphy. In addition to Murphy and Falchuk, Dante Di Loreto will also serve as Executive Producer of the series. American Horror Story is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television.

it's been getting sort of marginal reviews, but given the people behind it, I'm willing to give it a shot... good timing, with it being Halloween and all too.

I'm in. Hopefully it is better than its commercials make it look.
The first 5 minutes seem ok....

I pretty much give everything on FX a shot. I'm not expecting too much though...show looks weird. Glad to see Connie Britton (FNL) back on the small screen though.

I would watch Connie Britton drink lemonade on a hot sunny day.

BTW, if your on the West coast recording this on Directv at 7pm (10pm ET), you will probably have to record one of the re-airs as this runs 71 minutes and may cause DVR conflicts for your 8pm recordings.

I'm giving this a chance. The reviews have been mixed and there are some bad reviews of episode 2. I will watch this mostly for Connie Britton and Jessica Lange. Some of Connie's fans are bitching about her signing onto do this. She said towards the end of FNL that she wanted to do something different for her next project and I think that is why she signed on to do this show.

Yeah, the first episode was just.....odd. It wasn't scary or even interesting. It had too many hallmarks from "Nip/Tuck", for me. And that's not a compliment.

Yea, I need 2-3 more episodes before I can even form an opinion. I'm fine with it being weird and jumpy if it is going somewhere. I'm just afraid it will just play up being weird for no reason.

This was awesome. Loved it.I thought they did a great job with the creepy stuff; I like that the show was downright bizarre at times. They put out a lot of storylines for just one episode, and it'll be interesting to see where they all go. There's nothing else like this on TV, so I welcome it.

This. Not even on the premium cable channels. This went a lot further in a lot of different areas then I thought it was going to. It was like every other horror movie mixed up and smoked through a meth pipe. I'm totally in.
