I think another factor for me is that my wife makes up songs like Jess all the time. So that part of the show struck close to home and we found it pretty hilarious.

I agree there's a little of that ugly ducking thing going on, but for the most part none of the guys in the show were really into her. The roommates didn't seem to really find her all that attractive until maybe the end, and even her date blew her off. I see it more like she's cute, but her personality drives guys away which will hopefully provide some kind of character arc for her. I don't think I can handle her never changing because right now her character is almost annoying me.

It was ok. There were a few laughs. Those guys aren't as likable as the guys on Happy Endings (not sure why I'm comparing the two groups. Yes I do...it's Wayan's Jr.)

I don't think it's just that though. There is something very similar about the dialogue and the back and forth between the two shows. I guess I'll see if I feel the same way once Wayans is gone.

I was going to say the same thing as that critic about her seeming almost mentally challenged. I love Zoey, but her character came off as just a bit too much. It wasn't awful, though, and I can't imagine her character not improving over time. Plus, Tuesday night is one of the lightest TV nights of the week for me, so I'll give it a few more episodes.

Rich hasn't posted ratings yet, but this got a 4.8 in the demos. For a scripted comedy on FOX, that's pretty solid.

Yep, the character is fun in small doses, but after a half hour I was ready to say goodbye. It's almost as if she should be a supporting character (the wacky friend) instead of the lead. Still good for a pilot...let's just hope the show "finds its way"...it does have potential.

i chose this over Ringer, and am not convinced i made the right choice. i will be giving it a chance because i could watch Zooey read the phone book, but something was off/did not click. hopefully they find the right rhythm soon.

Yup. Because of course in real life, when the black guy who shares an apartment with two white guys and a hot girl (which, as we all know, happens all the time) suddenly moves away, he is nearly immediately replaced by another black guy. Probably requested such in the apartment listing.

Well, since the next episode hasn't aired yet, I really had nothing to go on.

And I kinda liked the coach character. I would have been happier with a recast rather than bringing in a replacement.
