And Mad Men is far better written/directed/acted than GoT is as well - GoT is just more flashy.

I only watched the first 6 episodes. I currently watch the shows for all the other nominees. Perhaps he got significantly better after that, I don't know. I do know that the rest of the nominees are brilliant.

That's funny. I'm re-watching Mad Men with my wife right now, and I forgot just how slow and plodding the show starts. Yes, it does get better. On the other hand, it remains a relatively slow and deliberate show, and it isn't for everyone.

I thought Boardwalk Empire took off like gangbusters around episode 6. Then episode 7 was dull, then the rest of the season was absolute awesome sauce. I almost quit the show after the first few episodes and am so glad I kept watching. It's the show I'm most excited about returning this year.

Really good to see Jason Katims and Kyle Chandler win. Very well deserved.

While I love Mad Men I was still hoping FNL would win for best drama. Although I thought Game of Thrones out shined them both.

Modern Family was pretty flawless this season except for maybe some weaker episodes towards the end... but Parks and Rec was robbed.

Now who's the one making assumptions, because I love Mad Men. I wasn't trying to "hassle" anyone. He said there hasn't been a season of television as good as season 4 of Mad Men since season 3 of the The Wire. I thought I'd offer my opinion that Breaking Bad (season 3 in particular) may change his mind.

Travesty, yes...but not as bad as Martin Sheen never getting one for THE WEST WING.

I interpreted the wording of your post as goading. If that wasn't you're intention, then it's my mistake.

Some of the characters on the show are actually poor and struggling to survive.

Let me put it to you this way. The show is loosely based on the story of the 1988 Permian Panthers High School team from Texas, which was the story of the feature film. If that story or the feature film didn't interest you, then you probably won't care for the show. But, don't automatically write it off as some frivilous cheese ball fluff.
Fair enough. I'll give it a chance if I ever get Netflix.

I didn't realize that he had never won. Wow.

The BE pilot was excellent, but by the end of the season I was completely uninterested.

I just watched The West Wing, and just assumed the Martin Sheen probably swept those Emmies every year. I'm absolutely shocked he didn't win a single one.

All of the snubbed actors with multiple nominations are in excellent company being losers.

Is Jim Parsons really that great on Big Bang Theory? Isn't this his 2nd win?

The Wire had two Emmy nominations in five seasons. Two. Nominations. Zero wins.

You want to talk about travesties?

He's pretty funny but he's basically playing himself.

Unwritten rule of the Emmys: You don't just win this category once:

1994 : Kelsey Grammer - Fraiser
1995 : Kelsey Grammer - Fraiser
1996 : John Lithgow - 3rd Rock From The Sun
1997 : John Lithgow - 3rd Rock From The Sun
1998 : Kelsey Grammer - Fraiser
1999 : John Lithgow - 3rd Rock From The Sun

(then the weird turn of the century glitch years)
2000 : Michael J. Fox - Spin City
2001 : Eric McCormack - Will & Grace
2002 : Ray Romano - Everyone Loves Raymond

(then order is restored)
2003 : Tony Shalhoub - Monk
2004 : Kelsey Grammer - Fraiser
2005 : Tony Shalhoub - Monk
2006 : Tony Shalhoub - Monk
2007 : Ricky Gervais - Extras (another glitch, but winner of previous Golden Globes awards)
2008: Alec Baldwin - 30 Rock
2009 : Alec Baldwin - 30 Rock
2010 : Jim Parsons - Big Bang Theory
2011 : Jim Parsons - Big Bang Theory
