I watched just so I could learn how to pronounce "Siobhan".

Decent pilot. I'll keep watching for now.

And yet, TVline says it gave "The CW its largest audience in the Tuesdays-at-9 time slot in more than 3 years... since 90210's 2-hr series debut. With 2.74 million total viewers [...] Ringers also delivered 66 adn 50 percent better numbers than Life Unexxpected did in the time slot a year ago." BTW, 90210 drew 1.63 million viewers and a 0.8 rating. Just for some CW context.

I thought it was a little odd when Bridget walked in on Juliet and her boyfriend about to have sex, she was startled, but acted like sher knew them.

Yeah, no disrespect to real people with the name, but it's just asinine to name your lead character something like that.

Nope, sorry. The 'bh' in Siobhan is pronounced as a 'v'.

That is nothing but spin. "Hellcasts" premiered to the same numbers this time last year and look how well that planned out (and last season the network had no mid-season replacements lined up). Yes for Mondays the ratings were "not bad", but after the typical pilot fall off I'm scared this show will be down to a .7/.8 struggling for renewal.

I thought the same thing. I was like "how does she even know her name" - but I do remember her sister mentioning the step daughter at least once before hand. It was a pretty good recovery though.

There's a girl who was on MTV's Real World/Challenge who pronounced her name the same way but was spelled Shauvon.

I could see this becoming like the Breaking Bad threads with a character whose name is frequently misspelled (now intentionally).

The difference being that "Shauvon" is basically a made-up name that some woman probably thought sounded nice, where Siobhan is an old Irish (well, Scotch-Irish, really) name that has been around for a thousand years or more, and comes from the Gaelic version of Joan.

Other then the boat scene I thought that scenes with the sisters looked really well done.

I got a chuckle when Siobhan's husband's name was revealed to be Xander...nobody else?

I'm a huge Sarah fan so i always rate everything she does a couple points higher.

I give the premiere a 7.5 outta 10

Re: Ringer -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 9/13/11

the stripper killer looking to put her on ice looks like a poor man's Iggy Pop.

regardless of a boat scene filmed in someone's bathtub, with a "tropical" shower curtain for a backdrop, i will be sticking with this. i liked seeing SMG not be totally kick ass and kinda weak, and have hope they can build from a slightly silly pilot. i also liked her back story being she is in recovery, and kinda felt it made her more human and made me invested in her a bit more.

I thought the pilot was ok. I laughed at a lot at boat scene.

Yeah, the boat scene was pretty bad and the dialogue a bit clunky but this could turn out to be pretty good.
SMG was great in both roles.

I will be interested to see how future episodes look with CW money going into it.
Isn't the CW a joint venture between Warner and CBS anyway? -hscratch-

I'm not sure this show can sustain more than a season's worth of funky plot honestly. Like a hyper-twisted Gossip Girl in terms of who's in bed with who. I got a little bored too.

Re: Ringer -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 9/13/11

Pretty weak. Normally I'd like to see the plotting move quickly but in this case I wish we got more background on white trash Buffy. I think we needed to see the seedy side a bit more. Dirty her up a bit. She's coming off too sweet for someone from a rough life. She should appear more street smart than damsel on the run. Would have been great to actually see her kick that cop's butt. I think I would have ended it with her meeting her twin. Next ep show us some sister bonding and set up some emotional heft to her supposedly being suicidal so we can believe her sister would believe her plunge in the drink. Right now all the characters are cardboard cut outs. Hopefully it'll ignite in the next few episodes.

I liked it all right. I think it could be decent fun in that soap opera type of way. We'll see how it develops.

You are right about the joint venture thing. From what I had read, Ringer was originally going to be a CBS show, but there weren't very many opening in the CBS schedule. There wasn't a place for this show, so rather than get rid of it, they put it on CW instead. Probably a better fit, too.

Xander was the name of one of the friends on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I thought I heard the name Xander but thought there was no way because it would've been too on the nose.

it's pretty funny.

Isn't Scotch an alcohol? Wouldn't it be Scot-Irish.

Anyway looks too soapy for my liking.
