Who?

Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
This was still ON?!

Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
How long until they pull the plug on Conan too?
|
Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
Oh shit. Really?
(I don't regularly watch, but I know who he is and have seen some of the show) |
Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
I blame Jay Leno...somehow.
|
Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
It's Letterman's fault
|
Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
Kind of surprisng to be honest. I didn't think the show was doing fantastic at all but I guess I didn't expect them to cancel it. I figured having Conan as his lead in would keep the show going. Truthfully though the few times I have tuned in after Conan I can't get into the show. I think he can be funny but a lot of times his style of humor just doesn't do much for me.

Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
His ratings dropped 40% after Conan took his old slot and he was moved back an hour.

No surprises here. He's unfunny, untalented, unoriginal and unimportant. The only difference between him and my dog is that my dog has only been on television a few times. |
Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
In a related story, Carlos Mencia has been spotted taking a dump in DVD Josh's back yard.
|
Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
Never really watched, but heard I didn't miss much. Looks like Conan didn't work out so well as a lead-in.
|
Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
I saw his special guest for last night was Roseanne and was thinking, if that's your main guest, it sucks to be you. Now he's canned.
Does anyone have any other shows they want me to take out with my mind powers? |

Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
He was one of, if not the dumbest, most un-funny "comedians" ever!
Just terrible. If mexicans like him, I see why people are so intent on keeping them out of the U.S. |
Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
He was kind of like Arsenio where you would see musical guests that usually did not appear on the other talk shows like Prince.
Don't want to sound PC but it was refreshing for a guy like Lopez and a guy of color to have his own show. The only guys I watch regularly are Conan and Fallon. |
Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
I've never understood the appeal of Lopez. I'm surprised the show lasted as long as it did.

Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
Conan O'Brien had George Lopez come on his show twice and both times, George insisted on being set up to do his schtick rather than be himself. I know this happens with a lot of stand-up comedians and it's usually very transparent, yet I thought both of these interviews (one was even two segments long) were huge missed opportunities for George to show who he is and whether he and his show is worth someone's time. It was unfortunate.
Plus, it doesn't help that he always looks scared while he's doing his "monologue." And yes, "monologue" is in quotation marks on purpose. |
Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
Lopez is a funny guy, but everytime I turned on the show he was doing some joke that appealed to Latino's. Come on George, expand your base with your jokes!

On Monday, Conan pulled in an anemic 0.5 rating in the key demographic (18 - 49) with 715,000 viewers -- and that's a pretty typical day. George's ratings hovered around 0.2, with 400,000 viewers. |
Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
OH, noes! What will I do after midnight now?! Oh, wait...
I'll just watch Craig Ferguson like I always do... |

I'll just watch Craig Ferguson like I always do... Late night is terrible these days as Letterman (who was great in his prime) is like a creepy old man now. Leno has gotten stale and played it safe too long. Fallon and Ferguson are pretty bad, and Conan has always been overrated. Late night to me is like SNL, its time has passed. Atleast I grew up in the 80's and saw the last golden age of Late Night with Carson/Letterman on NBC every night. Those were the days! |

The fact you haven't used your super powers to take out Jersey Shore, shows what a tool you are.
By the way are you featured in this doc? http://forum.dvdtalk.com/tv-talk/593...cumentary.html I only occasionally run across anything Jersey Shore related. I'd like to believe that it'll go away when the cast starts thinking that they're famous enough to branch out into other things. Like the guy that did the incredibly bad comedy routine at Trump's roast. |

I think you'll find you're in a wee tiny minority in your opinion of Ferguson. His week of shows in Paris was just brilliant. He's about the only guy left in late night who even bothers to take chances. Find me another late-night host who could even touch his interview with Bishop Desmond Tutu. |
Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
I did like seeing some good musical guest on Lopez Tonight, but I won't miss the show - I only tuned in 5 times to see a specific act - I do the same thing with Last Call with Carson Daly, who also showcases some great musical acts that the other shows won't touch.
However, right now the best show is Late Night with Jimmy Fallon IMO. Very funny recurring bits (albeit a bit repetitive when you dvr it EVERY night, like I do), it's a lot of fun to see the guests play games and do other stupid things with Jimmy. The Roots factor plays a huge part too and it's fun when they get in on the fun and Late Night showcases a lot of breaking bands too. I really like the laid back, improv feel to a lot of the show - sometimes Higgins and Jimmy go off on weird tangents, but it is usually damn entertaining. |
Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
Lopez was pretty before he got a sitcom. He used to host Que Locos?, a Hispanic/Latino comedy show that aired either on Galavision or Univision. He routines were pretty funny back then. I though George's sitcom was bad and I haven't cared for stand up in the past few years.

Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
didn't even know Carson Daly was still on the air. Later with Bob Costas was a good show back in the day. Conan is ok but he did his best work on Late Night with Conan O' Brien at the 12:30am shift on NBC. |

This can only lead to one thing....Carlos Mencia will host a late night talk show and it will be cancelled within the first two years.

Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
I'm not a big Ferguson fan, not sure why as I usually enjoy quirky off the wall humor, a lot of his material just feels forced to me. Acquired taste perhaps.
Fallon has improved a great a deal and, imo, is better than Leno and Letterman. Carson Daly's show has been greatly improved since he changed formats from standard talk show to more of a music/lifestyle oriented series where he meets up with the people in a bar or restaurant and talks to them. Covers some solid, lesser known bands too. I used to love Conan but haven't really watched him since the move to TBS. |
Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
Where's Chevy Chase when you need him!
I watch Letterman sometimes if I'm not busy watching something else, because he is by and far the best of the group, but usually I'm watching a movie or something. I did like Craig Kilborn, pretty good show. I can't stand Leno and Fallon is a buffoon. Turd Ferguson isn't terrible but his show isn't very good. Conan is good but his show has grown a bit stale to me, and I never watched him that much to begin with. Douchebag Lopez is the epitome of a hack and I wouldn't have watched his stupid mexican jokes if you paid me! I would spend money on a fund to keep him off the air! |
Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight
I'm very surprised his show lasted this long to be honest. I didn't see it going too far ever since they first advertised for it.
