If TBS and Conan are smart, they'll bump Conan to 10:30pm so it doesn't compete with Colbert Report and the news and goes directly head-to-head with Letterman and Leno the way it should be.

I'd imagine it might go the other way. You're going to lose the people that wanted to watch Lopez and didn't have anything before that to watch, so they'd sit through Conan. The people that lost Lopez will find somewhere else to fill their new empty time slot.

I don't think they should be too worried. I would think that Conan has quite a bit wider appeal than Lopez did. Plus as someone mentioned TBS shelled out good money to get him on board I don't see them cancelling his show. Plus if I remember correctly there was an article a few months back where TBS said they were happy with the ratings his show gets.

Granted it was back in January but still..

I read the same thing and am surprised no one has made more of that in this thread.

Although Lopez said he "agreed" and "liked" being bumped an hour in a way Conan kinda did to Lopez what Leno/NBC wanted to do to him and now it's likely cost Lopez his show.

I'm not a Lopez fan but I kinda feel sorry for him that it's worked out like this.

Also suprising that Conan's ratings are so low...guess Jon Stewart/Colbert didn't have nuch to worry about in retrospect.

The fact that TBS is going to replace the Lopez show with reruns of the Office and has not voiced a commitment to put another talk show in the slot should be a cause for concern.

Lopez was going to be canceled. Conan saved his ass (for a year at least).

Meh not really. Conan is a known name in late night whereas Lopez was kind of a shot in the dark. Like someone else said if anything having Conan probably prevented him from being cancelled earlier. They don't really need another talk show running in my opinion.

I disagree with your comments, but I am glad he got dumped. Going by what the word "racist" means in the dictionary he's it. Only cares about illegals getting their way no matter what laws are broken.
Also he makes fun of Sarah Phalin.

I wonder if Conan's experiences with Leno taught him how to get poison pills inserted into his contracts that make it impossible to get rid of him.

If I'd have known that, I'd have watched... or at least recorded it. I liked Arsenio's show. In fact, it's the only late night TV I've ever watched consistently. I doubt I'd have liked Lopez as much (I've seen enough of him to know), but I'd have tuned in for the musical guests.
