Come on, he's just as unwatchable.

Late night is terrible these days as Letterman (who was great in his prime) is like a creepy old man now. Leno has gotten stale and played it safe too long. Fallon and Ferguson are pretty bad, and Conan has always been overrated. Late night to me is like SNL, its time has passed.

Atleast I grew up in the 80's and saw the last golden age of Late Night with Carson/Letterman on NBC every night. Those were the days!

I also have a power that lets me completely, or almost completely, avoid all of those shows and their commercials. Lopez manages to slip through my defenses because I watch some shows on TBS and if I'm watching live, I can't defeat his commercials.

I only occasionally run across anything Jersey Shore related. I'd like to believe that it'll go away when the cast starts thinking that they're famous enough to branch out into other things. Like the guy that did the incredibly bad comedy routine at Trump's roast.

As Lopez?!

I think you'll find you're in a wee tiny minority in your opinion of Ferguson. His week of shows in Paris was just brilliant. He's about the only guy left in late night who even bothers to take chances. Find me another late-night host who could even touch his interview with Bishop Desmond Tutu.

Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight

I did like seeing some good musical guest on Lopez Tonight, but I won't miss the show - I only tuned in 5 times to see a specific act - I do the same thing with Last Call with Carson Daly, who also showcases some great musical acts that the other shows won't touch.

However, right now the best show is Late Night with Jimmy Fallon IMO. Very funny recurring bits (albeit a bit repetitive when you dvr it EVERY night, like I do), it's a lot of fun to see the guests play games and do other stupid things with Jimmy. The Roots factor plays a huge part too and it's fun when they get in on the fun and Late Night showcases a lot of breaking bands too. I really like the laid back, improv feel to a lot of the show - sometimes Higgins and Jimmy go off on weird tangents, but it is usually damn entertaining.

Lopez was pretty before he got a sitcom. He used to host Que Locos?, a Hispanic/Latino comedy show that aired either on Galavision or Univision. He routines were pretty funny back then. I though George's sitcom was bad and I haven't cared for stand up in the past few years.

Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight

didn't even know Carson Daly was still on the air.
His last new show was probably in March. I wonder how much he gets paid for Last Call since it is always showing repeats?

Later with Bob Costas was a good show back in the day.

Conan is ok but he did his best work on Late Night with Conan O' Brien at the 12:30am shift on NBC.

This can only lead to one thing....Carlos Mencia will host a late night talk show and it will be cancelled within the first two years.

You're giving him a lot of credit if you're stretching it out to a possible 2 years. I'd say it'd be gone within the first season.

Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight

I'm not a big Ferguson fan, not sure why as I usually enjoy quirky off the wall humor, a lot of his material just feels forced to me. Acquired taste perhaps.

Fallon has improved a great a deal and, imo, is better than Leno and Letterman. Carson Daly's show has been greatly improved since he changed formats from standard talk show to more of a music/lifestyle oriented series where he meets up with the people in a bar or restaurant and talks to them. Covers some solid, lesser known bands too.

I used to love Conan but haven't really watched him since the move to TBS.

Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight

Where's Chevy Chase when you need him!

I watch Letterman sometimes if I'm not busy watching something else, because he is by and far the best of the group, but usually I'm watching a movie or something.
I did like Craig Kilborn, pretty good show. I can't stand Leno and Fallon is a buffoon. Turd Ferguson isn't terrible but his show isn't very good.
Conan is good but his show has grown a bit stale to me, and I never watched him that much to begin with.
Douchebag Lopez is the epitome of a hack and I wouldn't have watched his stupid mexican jokes if you paid me!
I would spend money on a fund to keep him off the air!

I'm very surprised his show lasted this long to be honest. I didn't see it going too far ever since they first advertised for it.

From what I'm hearing, there is a little bit of panic among Conan's crew.

Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight

Conan, Ferguson, and Letterman are the best in late night right now if you ask me. Conan started off kind of rocky on TBS I think but in my opinion the show has found itself and has gotten better over the past few months. Ferguson is just himself. He seems like the most genuine host on tv if you ask me and isn't afraid to try new things. Letterman may not be in his prime anymore but I still find some of his bits funny.

True.

The eleven/ten o'clock timeslot in an awkward fit for late night talk shows because it overlaps with the news.

Combine this with TBS, which is one of those cable stations that sort of gets lost in the mass of 200 channels, and you get a show that nobody will bother to watch.

Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight

Count me among those who are amazed the show lasted this long. I've never found George Lopez remotely appealing.

I've always been partial to Conan's sense of humor, but I haven't watched him much lately. I think Fallon has come into his own and is pretty solid. I've intentionally not watched Leno or Letterman for years now.

Re: TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight

Sorry to hear that but I really didn't like Lopez Tonight. I found his sitcom show to be hilarious but I felt like he was trying to hard to incorporate spanglish in his monologues.

"Sabes que, Charlie Sheen..."

"This vato..."

I started watching late night shows in the mid 90s and never found Leno or Letterman to be that funny. Conan though was hilarious. When he was "interviewing" Mike Tyson and said, "You told the press you want to eat people." "Not people, Conan. Children."

His new show I don't find that funny though.

Craig Ferguson is the best though. Does he still talk about the snake museum?

I'm sure there is a little, but there is no way they don't let him run his contract out. They paid quite a bit of money to get him there. Plus, with Lopez gone, I'd imagine Conan will get at least a little bump in viewership.

Maybe someone can remind me - is George Lopez Latino? I can't recall him ever mentioning it.
