So we're still waiting to see who the actual office manager will be? I thought that article said Spader is going to be the new CEO.

Thank goodness Gandolfini didn't get it.

You've obviously never seen...

...which I'm safe to assume based upon what you call the best films of the past few years.

 to Spader.

I think this is a great idea. Spader was way too interesting on the show not to keep him, but I am hoping they promote from within for the office manager job, so this could allow the best of both wolds.

I am very happy about this. Spader was hilarious on the finale. I hoped he would get the job.

Lots of spoilers in an Entertainment Weekly story of the upcoming season:

Spoiler:
* An established character will be promoted from within to take over as permanent Scranton branch manager subsequent to California’s promotion to CEO.

* Spader will play California in 15 episodes this coming season.

* Following a visit to the Scranton branch, California will throw the staff into a tizzy after he accidentally leaves behind two lists. One list contains the names of half the Scranton Branch employees. The other list contains the names of the other half.

* California will challenge office manager Pam to double branch sales.

* Dwight will build a Productivity Machine that will evolve into something of a Doomsday Device.

* Riddled with hormones thanks to a second pregnancy, Pam will grow so paranoid she will come to rely on Dwight as the only individual she can trust to be honest with her.

* The entire Scranton warehouse staff will win the lottery and quit. (Something tells me somebody forget to offer Daryl his usual stake now that he’s no longer working in the warehouse.)

His character's name is Robert California. Although I don't think in the episodes he appeared in last season that he actually said his name.

To be fair

Spoiler:
The writers were forced into this since Jenna Fischer is actually pregnant

Spader's character is going to get old really fast.

That's probably why

Spoiler:
He'll be promoted to CEO relatively quickly (despite being in 19 episodes apparently)

I was sick of him after about 30 seconds.

Really not liking the direction this is going.

Some guest star casting news (including one that could potentially be gold if written correctly):

Spoiler:
EXCLUSIVE: Will we see a duet performance by the Bernard brothers on The Office this coming season? Crooner Josh Groban has been tapped to play the brother of Ed Helms' character Andy Bernardon the long-running NBC comedy series. This is the latest member of the Bernard clan to be cast as the network just cast Stephen Collins and Dee Wallace as Andy's parents. This marks Groban's first major TV acting stint since his star-making turn on Ally McBeal 10 years ago.
