I love the character of Stannis. I can't wait to see how they portray him on screen. He is one of my favorites in the books.

From reading the write-ups of the comic-con panel, nothing really new was talked about. The only interesting thing they said was if they get a season 3, they expect to make changes from the book.

Comic-con is terribly timed for this show. The only good thing to ever come out of panels is new footage and Comic-con always happens a few weeks before they start filming. So their panels will always be pretty worthless.

Production on season 2 started yesterday
http://winter-is-coming.net/ has some good info
This place will be part of the location for Dragonstone and they'll be filming one of the early scenes from the book there later this week.

Not season 2 related, but pretty cool video on the effects work from season 1

Found this note on Dark Horizons in an article discussing HBO premiere dates:
HBO execs say they plan on keeping "Game of Thrones" going as long as Martin keeps writing the books.
Certainly good news there.

They're apparently introducing a new character, meet Alton Lannister
Sounds like he's replacing Cleos Frey, which would mean they are moving
up to this season from book 3.

Cleos does appear in book 2, as a human raven shuttling back and forth between Riverrun and King's Landing. That said, I think they have said they want to give Jaime more to do in season 2, so it wouldn't surprise me to see them move that plotline up (though I think it would be a mistake in terms of Jaime's and Cersei's character development to send him back to King's Landing too soon).

That Gemma girl was the rumored actress for Yara that WiC ran with a month ago I believe. She kind of has a jokester/impish look about her, She seems pretty fresh faced, it will be good to see how she fills that role.

Exclusive: Tom Wlaschiha is Jaqen H’ghar
http://winter-is-coming.net/2011/08/...s-jaqen-hghar/
The steady flow of casting news continues… and now we have our own exclusive Game of Thrones casting to announce. The part of Jaqen H’ghar will be filled by German actor Tom Wlaschiha. Wlaschiha has appeared in numerous German films and TV series’ and also had a few small roles in Hollywood films such as Enemy at the Gates, Munich and Valkyrie. You can check out his showreel at his official site.
Jaqen H’ghar is one of a group of criminals that is being taken to the Wall by Yoren along with Arya. Tower of the Hand notes his appearance in the book as “slender and fine-featured, half of his hair is red and the other half is white.” HBO describes Jaqen as “sly, enigmatic, and a dangerous criminal, part of Yoren’s group of recruits taken from King’s Landing to join the Night’s Watch. A foreigner from the Free Cities, he speaks broken English. Seductive, charming, and very dangerous.”
Winter Is Coming: I have to say, I really, really like this casting. Wlaschiha has a great look that fits the mysterious Lorathi criminal. I wonder if they will keep his long, two-tone hairdo? I think his eyes alone give him enough of a unique appearance. Plus they could use his natural German accent to really drive home the fact that H’ghar is not from Westeros. And I love the intensity in his acting present on his showreel. Really excited to see Wlaschiha on screen and in character. Welcome to the cast Tom!
