I'm guessing the next big release of casting news will be the characters that show up at Winterfell (The Reeds, Reek, and various lords) since none of them have been released yet, followed by the post-Craster's Keep part north of the wall(Mance, Ygritte, Halfhand, and various wildlings)

Oona Chaplin is Jeyne Westerling......

It actually hasn't been confirmed yet that the Jeyne she is playing is Westerling but she seems way too old to play Poole.

Re: Game of Thrones (HBO) Season 2: Casting, News

At this point it doesn't really make sense to cast Jeyne Poole since in the book she's taken right after Ned's death.

Not how I pictured her at all.

I think she'll be perfect for the scene where a starving Jeyne has nothing to eat but her own shoe.

I don't really have much of a mental picture of the character.

Are Westerling and Poole really that different in age? Robb is only a year or two older than Sansa.

Over on Westeros.org they're saying HBO won't release the last name so they are speculating it's a new character. Neither Jeyne appears in Clash so I think it's plausible.

Possibly, but Robb doesn't appear much at all in Clash and I'm pretty sure they've said they are going to include his stuff first-hand instead of the second-hand reports we got in the books. If that's the case, I wouldn't be surprised if we see Jeyne Westerling.

And now that I think about it, they probably already have a Jeyne Poole from season one.

Dance with Dragons spoilers:
Spoiler:
I wonder if Martin gave them a heads up that the character would have a bigger role in book five

Re: Game of Thrones (HBO) Season 2: Casting, News

Looks like Quaithe and Lorren have been added:

http://winter-is-coming.net/2011/08/...irector-added/

A trio of unofficial updates: German-born actress Laura Pradelska has tweeted she just got out of a costume fitting and that she has been cast to play Quaithe in season two of Game of Thrones. So it sounds pretty legit. Hat tip to Westeros.org for spotting the tweet.

Pradelska has done predominately stage work in her career, although she has a few film and television credits to her name as well, including a recent appearance on Doctor Who. Quaithe is a mysterious priestess from Asshai who travels across the Jade Sea to get a glimpse of Daenerys’ dragons.

In other casting news, Westeros.org is reporting that actor Forbes KB has been cast to play the character Black Lorren. KB is a Scottish character actor with a long list of film and TV credits to his name. Black Lorren is an Ironborn reaver, considered one of the most fierce.

I had to look up who Black Lorren was

For those who don't remember
Spoiler:
He is Theon's second in command after the Ironborn seize Winterfell

Don't know how reliable this site is, but they are saying the Jeyne that Oona Chaplin is playing is Jeyne Westerling.

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansit.../news/?a=44507

A couple of sites are also reporting that Auron Greyjoy will be left out of this season.

Groucho 08-23-11 07:45 PM

Re: Game of Thrones (HBO) Season 2: Casting, News

Euron Greyjoy? He doesn't appear until book 4 anyway.

Or do you mean Balon?

Whoops, I meant Aeron, the priest.

The only thing he did in book 2 was meet Theon when he lands at Pyke

Didn't realize Oona was Charlie Chaplin's granddaughter. That is pretty cool.

I think they should just skip to him meeting his sister.

Couple more minor characters cast

Ralph Ineson is Dagmer Cleftjaw

Ineson was "Finchy" on the British version of The Office

Lucian Msamati is Salladhor Saan

This is another change of race from the book.
