Just wait for it, it's still early Monday morning and I can't see those idiots passing up this chance.

One of the reasons they filmed in Northern Ireland and Malta for this show is those are two of the few places that don't regulate animal violence in filmed entertainment.

It's actually because they believe he had something to do with the poisoning of Jon Arryn and they are taking him to her sister Lyssa who was married to him.
She kept saying they were going to Winterfell to throw everyone off. I believe that the path they are taking is considered to be more dangerous than staying on the King's Road.

lol. This episode had everything.
I did miss the scenes at the wall, I think that is my favorite storyline.
I can't wait to see what happens in the next episode.

It seems that they are focusing on a handful of stories now, rather than trying to cover everything at once. I think this approach works better.

And then there are the great steed decapitations in cinema:
The Fell Beast, Khartoum, Buckbeak, Gwyneth Paltrow in Seven...

Did't like this change from the books-
Otherwise LOVED the episode. Did miss not having anything from the wall though.

Not sure if anyone is interested, but Martin linked to a really interesting website about the making of the title sequence of the show here. Not sure if there are spoilers or not, so be warned.

I also enjoyed a moment of clarity from Robert. He's not the fool everyone believes him to be, understanding that he can't meet the Dothraki in the field but also understanding that a protracted siege would undermine his support.
Although I have read the books it was a long time ago and I never quite understood what gave Robert the right to claim the throne after the mad king was assaniated. So his tenuous support at least among the major houses, or his perception of the lack of support, is realistic.

His family tree. His paternal grandmother was a Targaryen -- Rhaelle. Rhaelle was the daughter of King Aegon V and sister to Jaeherys II. Jaeherys was the father of the Mad King. Basically, the Baratheons (of Robert's generation) are one quarter Targaryen, and therefore the closest living relatives of the Mad King.

Great:
The Mountain vs. The Hound. That actually looked pretty realistic and scary.
Dinklage
The conversation between Cersei and Robert
Varys and Littlefinger sparring
Mark Addy continues to own the character
OK:
The Eerie: the book made it much more forbidding and epic. It's just a standard fantasy castle in this show
The lack of the Blackfish, maybe he'll make an appearance later, maybe they're trying to skinny down the character list a bit, but he's pretty important.
The "eh" introduction of the yet unnamed Bronn, one of my favorite characters from the book.
Getting kind of annoying:
Gratuitous boobies. I'm as red blooded as the next man, but enough with the hot chicks getting railed from behind already.
More Wall, please.

I thought the conversation scene between Robert and Cersei was incredible and beautifully acted by Addy and Headey. You see two people who have basically hated each other for 17 years yet they both understand that there are times when they must talk to each other and be civil. Their mutual laughter that their marriage was keeping Westeros together was funny and tragic. I got the sense that under slightly different circumstances, these two could have been friends.
