Re: Survivor: Redemption Island -- May 4th, 2011
Jeff said in his video blog that it would be a blind side this week. I am hoping for something good like Rob, but it will most likely just be Andrea.

let the blindside be Matt saith the Lord.

Doesn't it have to be a blindside since no one on Ometepe is on the chopping block that they know of?
The problem with trying to get Rob out is that Natalie, Andrea and Phillip are attached to him at the hip so if Andrea wanted to make a move against him Rob would find out and flip it on her. Grant seems to be stuck to Rob like glue too but I think he's willing to listen to the idea of voting Rob out, knowing that if he does than he's the most likely winner.
But it seems pretty clear that it'll be Andrea this week. Maybe Grant... but I don't think Rob will have an easy time getting the rest of the group to get on board with that. Plus Grant is the physical threat but I'd rather keep that around than keep someone that would try to blindside you.

Rob needs to keep Grant around so he can beat whoever returns from Redemption Island. Grant won't turn on Rob and he'll secure Rob's spot in the finals if he keeps him around.
I voted for Ashley. I think it's between her and Andrea.

Grant has the best chance at winning this very physical immunity challenge. Philip said ealry on that he wanted Rob out. I also get the feeling that Grant wants Rob gone.

Rob you're such a bitch. Jeff stop sucking him off already. "Carrying his family on his back." Give me a break, Amber already won a million and they were on The Amazing Race too.

I nearly had a heart attack watching that challenge, no way I'd be able to do that shit, especially in that heat after 30-some days

Let's just say he does get back in, no way Rob would let him near the final 3 with all the Ometepe's there, and I just think it was a waste for him to have done that. Just MO.

Poor play by Andrea. How can she trust? They already blindsided her once in the game when they voted out Matt the first time. She spent all that time out there, and she never got a close alliance. If that was the case she should have blabbed to Matt and flipped to the Zapatera people after the merge.

He possibly wins 4 jury votes with a show of kindness and he'll see his family in a week. I don't see that as a waste.

I just don't think he'll even make it to the finals. I think if he comes back in the game with 5 or 4 people left, if he doesn't win immunity, there's no way the remaining players keep him around. I think Mike would get jury votes from Ometepe players no doubt.

If he comes back, he's also a way to flip numbers against Rob. The Zapatera tribe really have been short on brains, so no telling what they'll do if they decide it's Rob's time to go.

Not to take anything away from his masterful gameplay to date, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of the members (if not all) of Rob's alliance consider him a good person to take to the finals. As mentioned above, he already has had success on the show, plus all of his other endeavors, so would people be as willing to give him the win over someone else who 'needs' it more? Kind of like the Jimmy Johnson speech at the start of last season: "Look, no one is going to give me the million dollars..."

Well, we know Phillip already has his speech lined up convincing folks to vote against Rob. Could that be a foreshadowing that we'll hear that in the end?

I think Mike made the right move too. The bottom line is that you want to endear yourself to as many people as possible. Mike just did that. It probably won't win him the game (it's something that hasn't worked before) but it's still the right choice. If I ever make it on to this show remind me to make a friend my loved one from home and not my mom or dad. I can easily tell a friend that I'll see them in 8 days, it would be tough if it were a family member. And also remind me to choose an athletic friend in case they're involved in a challenge.
I'll be really disappointed if Mike comes back to win though. I can give it up to Matt since he's been on RI since the beginning but Mike just got there and if he gets back in the game and wins, it's a crock. I can really say that about any Zapatera member... they got crushed by Ometepe fair and square, none of them should win. But just in general... if whoever comes back from RI gets an automatic spot in the final 3 than it's a major failure on the games part. They should come back in at 4 making them the 5th person. I can handle it even at 3... but if they come in and jump right to final tribal I'll be pissed because we'll most likely see an undeserving winner.
The drama should heat up next episode. Rob is going to have to convince Natalie to turn on her friend Ashley instead of voting out Phillip. Then again it might be in Robs best interest to get rid of Phillip now. He's still going to win as long as he doesn't end up in the final 3 with Matt or an old Zapatera.
Since next week is the final 5 tribal does that mean it's Rob last chance to use the HII? It's usually the case but I wonder if he'd be willing to hold onto it in case he gets to use it when the RI winner comes back.
That challenge was brutal. They basically had to do suicide up stairs in 110 degree weather. Unbelievable. I was really impressed with Andrea on that one. She played a great game, she was the logical choice to be voted out.
I know Phillip has come off as a complete loon this game but his confessional where he said that he wanted to play the villain to go to the final 2 and that he has a surprise speech if he makes to the final tribal was interesting. He seems very much aware of how he's perceived... maybe it really is just an act and he'll be "normal" during the final tribal. I don't think it's true... but I'd be very impressed if it were.
