I don't really follow you. The mountains are on the other side of the wall, so their passibility wouldn't mean anything to the region. Beyond that, there has been nothing implied that an attack from the north of the wall is the only weakness to the region.

Nice color map here.
that's a good map. explains what i'm looking about. apparently the kingdom is like it's own continent. basically it would be akin to putting a wall accross central america, making south america cut off from the rest of the continent. i guess any other kingdoms don't have ships, huh? i know they talked about nobody crossing the narrows in boats. there appear to be multiple points of weakness there looking at the map. but with that good visualization, i can see the wall is just the only area that provides a blockade (in a sense) to the other part of the "continent" where they could be attacked (not by sea).

my assumption was that the area the kingdom covers was surrounded by more land. leading me to believe that they could be attacked by land in other areas. that map shows it is not the case. it's like a peninsula, surrounded by sea on all areas except where the wall is. outside of a sea attack, a ground attack would have to come through the wall. that is why i was asking for more specifics, because i didn't understand the geography of it all.

OK, I see what you are saying.

Yeah, it's basically like England in shape, with an unspecified northern menace across the wall (probably inspired by Hadrians wall I suppose).

after rewatching the second ep, I'm kinda surprised that Ned didn't walk the direwolf out of town and let it go.

I am not sure it has been specifically addressed in the tv series...but

Spoiler:
To keep the White Walkers/evil things out of the 7 kingdoms

I'm not, Ned has shown to be duty/honor bound to a fault.

I actually thought he was when I watched the first episode and had to go to IMDB to confirm.

Thanks for that link, I didn't realize there were settlements north of the wall. I assumed the wildlings just sorta moved around, similar to the Dothraki.

One thing I do NOT like about the show is the marginalization of some point-of-view (or "main") characters from the book. Like, Robb. It kind of takes away the element of surprise from the books and storylines. Instead, the viewers are a bit more steered towards the "main main" characters. I don't know how else to put it.

Robb doesn't have any POV chapters in the book. The Winterfell stuff is relayed through Bran's POV.

I personally like Asia Argentio as Asha..because yes, she is hot.

This is not a spoiler correct? Maybe this should be put into the spoiler thread?
