It started at 720pm PT. So your recordings will miss the first 10 minutes. I only knew because I was watching the post game show.

I thought the chubby white guy was better then the first two singers.

I don't know, like the judges said he didn't have any change in pitch at all the entire song.

Love this show. Glad it's back. I really liked the guy that Adam picked. Also the first girl who Ceelo picked.

I didn't think so. I'm guessing that when Christina didn't recognize him at all during the performance, a producer said "Hey, that's...", prompting her to track the guy down. Would have been way more dramatic had she recognized him during the performance.

Watching it righht now. The single father Jesse Campbell was awesome. He made the right choice to work with Xtina.
The Opera dude Chris Mann was also pretty good. Not surprised that he also chose Xtina.
Felt kind of bad for the chubby guy who got passed by everyone. He was pitchy.
Adam is just hilarious.

This show is sooooo much more entertaining than AI that it's not even funny.
Like Javier Colon last year, this may be Jesse Campbell's to lose (at this point).

Just finished it. The last guy Tony Luca was pretty good too. Glad Adam finally got someone.
Yeah Christina said she didn't recognize him when he performed. She probably hasn't seen the guy in almost 20 years. Agree with TimeandTide that the Producer probably told her in her ear piece who he was and to track him down.
Pretty solid 1st night. I know the singing competition show is so tired, but I like that this show attempts to do something different.
Looking forward to tomorrow night.

Well I meant everything with her tracking him down after just as they were mentioning it. Maybe someone told her, but the way it was edited she just walked off to make it look like she remembered all of a sudden, especially since she comments to someone about who the guy is as she's walking.

One of the problems is I didn't hear much about Javier after he won The Voice. That doesn't mean the show isn't any good. After all, AI gave us Taylor Hicks. Turns out Javier did put out a CD. Reviews weren't great. The CD has one song co-written by Kris Allen, and one co-written by Leona Lewis. Adam Levine did come through and sing with him on one song ("Stand Up") which was co-written by Pharrell. Soundscan says it sold 9974 in its first week, which is pretty weak. 4 Songs are only available as exclusives, including the first single ("Stitch by Stitch," which was a Wal-mart exclusive).

The Voice has shown it can find good singers, but it hasn't shown it can find (or create) a star. I'm looking forward to seeing how The X Factor does in that regard with Melanie Amaro and it's various strong performers. I don't really see how having mentors on The Voice is translating into industry success for the contestants. It's one thing for other artists to be supportive (The Voice), but it may be more beneficial to have record industry exec support (The X Factor). It's also one thing for Blake to tell an artist (last season), "If you need anything, call me," but that does not translate into success. More than likely, the contestants will not be successful for the same reasons they weren't before coming on the show. That isn't a dig at vocal ability as much as a concession to the multitude of factors that go into being a successful recording artist. Javier has had 2 shots at it now with no significant inroads. Maybe this season will be different.

Either wanting to irk Britney or maybe even Keri Russell aka Felicity who Lucca was dating during the run of MMC.
But it was great seeing someone from the Club try out on the show. I keep expecting to see other former cast members try their hand at these shows nowadays.

Hell. They should just do a Mickey Mouse Club has-beens edition of the Voice and get it out of their system. And all the judges should be former, more successful mouseketeers.

It's obvious Xtina has a jealousy issue with Adam. I think he does his best to keep it respectful, especially when she is being such a bitch.
That being said, Adam is yummy.

I could never take Colon seriously last season because he's a grown-ass man, with a kid and (wife/baby's momma), and still can't wear a baseball cap properly. Really?

Very early ratings, but:
30.28M viewers and 13.3 in demos. It will be adjusted later.
Obviously the numbers are a little inflated because of the Super Bowl.

Updated ratings for The Voice:
The season 2 premiere of "The Voice" (16.3 rating in adults 18-49 and 37.611 million viewers overall) scored the highest rating for an entertainment telecast on any net in six years since the post-Super Bowl telecast of "Grey’s Anatomy" on February 5, 2006 (16.5).

I saw Angel Taylor open for Kate Voegele a few years ago. Glad to see her make it on a team.

Watched all 2 hours tonight.
Man, the judges were really tough tonight. They passed on alot of people.
I really liked the Asian chick Angie Johnson who is in the military. Tall, really sexy and I liked her rocker attitude. Surprised that only Cee-Lo turned around for her.
Was really surprised that Jermaine Paul, the backup singer, chose Blake. Was so expecting him to work with Cee-Lo. He was okay.
Was really happy for Jamar. His back story was pretty moving.
I'm glad NBC is keeping this show once a week for now. It would be overkill watching this and 2 nights of Idol.

Watched the first episode and recorded the second one. Never watched it last year, but I'll probably watch it this season, since my wife wants to. I stopped watching Idol fairly early (after the second or third season), and never watched X Factor, but this seems like it's going to be entertaining to me.

I didn't watch last season, but actually paid attention after seeing clips of how good Dia Frampton was.
I didn't think anyone in particular stood out in this second episode, but I agree a lot of decent people were passed up. Kind of funny to see Christina mad because she missed the pretty boy QB kid.

Re: The Voice -- Season 2 -- The Auditions Thread -- Premieres 2/05/12
I know in the case of AI, there's the cattle call, then producers invite a portion of that to come back (yes, they even invite the bad singers we see back to perform in front of the judges). Then depending on what happens during the audition in front of the judges, the producers decide what they actually want to show America (both good and bad). I'd guess it's similar for The Voice, though I don't know.
There has to be some behind the scenes stuff going on. What if 3 mentors have full teams and 1 judge keeps turning people down? The show auditions can't run forever. So I think there's some gamesmanship with not filling up your team too soon (for fear of missing out on better people later) and not filling out your team too late (having missed the good people, you're left to pick amongst whatever's left just to fill out your team).

Watched all 2 hours tonight.
As I said last week, I'm really surprisied how picky the judges are.
I really liked the black guy with sun glasses (I think his name was Geoff)
I also dug Jordis, the Polynesian chick who was the last to perform.
I hated the Lesbian model Erin. That kind of voice is just grating to me.
Didn't like the Tattoo chick Winter Rae. Her voice on that Rihanna song sounded flat. It was good the judges passed on her.
The one thing that I found so annoying was the fake surprise visits from Carson. 1st of all, why the hell would an NBC camera crew be there and have her mic'd up if she hasn't qualified for the show yet? The 2 they did looked so staged.
