Josh Kaufman ("One More Try") is the first performance I've saved from this season. He got a 4-chair turn but Usher didn't press his button until the end. Exactly what was he listening to?

I'm not sure I completely bought his falsetto, but that's nitpicking.

Battle Rounds 1: all but one battle turned out as expected I think once you heard the match ups.

The bigger issues, and perhaps this has to do with sequencing (I hope?), revolved around steals.

It's a crying shame DeShawn Washington was let go and that nobody picked him up. Legate makes it worse is Shakira stole somebody with a similar tone saying she's a sucker for it. Here's an idea - keep DeShawn and don't waste a steal on somebody who isn't as good!!!

Halfway through the first battle rounds and damn, the song selections are atrocious.

*edit* I think the only song that worked was Higher Love.

I thought Sisaundra was really good in Mondays show.

Glad that Biff got stolen by Blake. I like the guy and his enthusiasm. But yes, most of the song choices were pretty poor.

I'm up to date, but I still don't know many of the names. No one really stands out to me at this point. Surprised that they are doing a 2 hour battle round, then a 1 hour one, and cutting some of the rounds altogether, just announcing the winners. I was interested in hearing the twin brothers again, but they didn't make it.

So I'm caught up through this past weeks episodes

So far, everyone who's been eliminated I don't mind seeing them go at all.

My favorites so far are:

Clarissa (Team Shakira)

Biff (Stolen to Team Blake)

Sisaundra (Team Blake)

Christina (Team Adam)

Tess (Stolen to Team Blake)

I'm glad that Tess got a 2nd chance with Blake

I liked her performance here and I think she has potential.

Team Blake started out pretty weak, but he's certainly gotten better talent now with those 2 steals. I think Usher's team is the weakest group.

I think you summed things up pretty well.

Looks they are changing up format this week with another round of battles and 1 coach across the team's. Not sure if that is old form, or something new.

Would be fun if they gave out a few songs and had everybody prepare and have all of them in for a sing off.

Pharrell Williams is replacing Cee Lo as coach next season. Good pick.

Great pick.

Thoughts after the playoffs.

Blake's team looks good. Sisaundra has to be one of the favorites as she has a great voice without the diva attitude. Jake will go a lot farther then he should because of his personality. I like Audra, but not sure how far she can go.

As far as Shakira, I don't really see anyone from her team having much of a chance. Dani is probably her best hope. I'm warming up more to Tess.

As far as Adam, still can't believe he kept Delvin over Josh and I know this is blasphemy but I don't really see what the big deal with Christina is. She's good, but I don't see anything that separates her from the other girls. I like Kat but she has no chance.

As far as Usher, I like Bria Kelly, but agree with, I think it was Adam who said it, that she needs to find a softer tone. At this point it just sounds like she's up there screaming the entire time. Josh is by far the strongest guy left in the competition. My money's on T.J. to be the first voted off.

Christina on Adam's team supposedly has a huge youtube following. = iTunes downloads. I think Adam should have kept Jake. The guy looks like the dude from graceland and sings like Justin Timberlake. If Adam wanted to win again, he should have kept Jake but perhaps they need to spread out the wins a bit so they had Blake stop picking country singers last season and maybe emphasizing some of the other judges.

I watched the Playoffs last night Monday and Tuesdays episodes.

My favorites:

Team Shakira:
Tess
Dani

Team Adam:
Delvin (although he has no chance of winning)
Christina (I think she's a sleeper to win it)

Team Blake:
Sisaundra

I think the top 3 will be Tess, Sisaundra and Christina

Gwen Stefani is in talks to replace Christina Aguilera in the Fall cycle of the show. 2 new coaches in the Fall whether she signs on or if someone else does.

X-Tina is pregnant right now and they start taping the blind auditions in June.

Man, how is Blake and Adam not burned out with this shows schedule?

This season of "The Voice" has so many amazing singers in the top 12.

Looking at the itunes numbers

Bottom 3 on the show were the bottom 3 on itunes. Dani was the lowest, she and TJ didn't crack the top 200, so not surprised she wasn't saved.

Looks like Adam made a colossal fuck up taking Dalvin over Josh. Josh was the only one in the top 10 Dalvin topped out at 125.

Like I said last week, Jake is going to go a lot father then he deserves to. He was the third highest contestant.

Watching the Live Eliminations and kinda bummed Shakira's performance looked like a lip sync. Sounded a little too clean. Gotta get the best sound to promote the album I guess.

As usual, middle 'merica will be voting Blake's team through further than they should. Soshandra is his ace in the hole, the other two are very forgettable.

Gwen seems like a solid choice. I'm amazed at Blake & Adam hanging in there. The production schedule must be pretty easy. I forgot about Cee Lo leaving.

Re: The Voice (NBC) -- Season 6 Thread -- Shakira and Usher return

I'd be interested to know the schedule, but in doubt it's that taxing. I believe they film the blinds concurrently with the current season blinds. So it might a packed week or two, but I suspect they come in for a few hours, films some studio bits and leave for the week. I've never heard how much coaching time contestants receive, but I bet it's 10-20 minutes through battles. Once lives hit maybe 30-60 minutes per contestant each week.

MikahC 04-27-14 11:39 PM

Re: The Voice (NBC) -- Season 6 Thread -- Shakira and Usher return

I think it's up to the coaches how much time they want to put into their contestants as long as the show can at least get the basic footage of them coaching. But the coaches themselves have made comments about how much time other coaches will actually put into contestants as a way to sway them.

Re: The Voice (NBC) -- Season 6 Thread -- Shakira and Usher return

This is a really strong and well rounded top 10

If I had to pick a top 3, it would be Christina, Tess and Sisaundra. I also like Josh and enjoyed his last song last week.

I have nothing against him personally, but I really don't want Jake Worthington to advance any further. I like country music, but his style and personality is one note and has very little wide appeal....cough Scotty McCreary.

In a perfect world Bria and Jake would be going home tomorrow, but I think only half of that is going to happen.

I love what Blake is doing with Sisaundra, artists like her end up doing a Celine or Whitney song for a few weeks and then get knocked out.

Re: The Voice (NBC) -- Season 6 Thread -- Shakira and Usher return

I re-watched Audra's and Christina's performances.

Jake sounded mushy, and Bria was skreechy and growly. I am tired of the singers going to the crowd and low-fiving folks. Just stop it.

I liked her at first, but her voice is really grating now, especially when she screams. I thinkTess and her are probably going home.

So far on itunes the bottom 3 are

Spoiler:
Bria and Tess who aren't even charting and Dalvin who's at 147

Is it me, or does Shakira sound like those pageant contestants during the Q&A section for the finalists when she's giving feedback to the performances.
