I just finished watching this and I have to warn you all it's pretty bad. 1st of all, it's censored to TV-14. All the F bombs are cut out. Also, it's about the least interesting MK character IMO Johnny Cage and it's mostly shot like a cheesy reality documentary. The actor who plays Johnny Cage is terrible.
The Uncut version of this episode will be posted on Friday. I don't understand the logic behind this at all.
Lookout for a cameo from Ed Boon, who is the creator of Mortal Kombat.

I thought Johnny Cage was handled perfectly in the movie. He was an arrogant ass but his heart was sort of in the right place.

I actually enjoyed it. Censoring the F-bombs is a weird choice but I was indefferent towards it. Honestly, even with the censoring I could tell there were too many F-bombs (as if written by a kid who just discovered the word). The guy playing Johnny Cage is definitely the weakest actor of the four leads we've seen so far but not as terrible as the posts here made me think. I wouldn't call him a good actor but I've seen much worse. He just needs some coaching. As for the concept/format, it makes sense for the washed-up hasbeen Johnny Cage is meant to be. I also like that the kept the more flamboyant aspects of his personality to his onscreen persona and that his arrogance really just extends from his frustration over not being taken seriously (which is his own fault since he has no idea how to properly market himself).
All in all, the concept is right. However, I agree that the previous episodes were better put together with regards to the overall mythology.

I did like the short appearance at the end by Shang Tsung.
The problem I had with this episode was it felt so cheap. The 1st 2 episodes felt almost Cinematic in quality/production value. I know the point was to show that Johnny is a washed up action hero trying to revive his career as a reality TV star, but I think it could have been handled differently.

So was that one of Shang Tsung's transformations or the actor to portray him throughout? I ask because the series trailer showed Mileena and Kitana fighting for the amusement of someone that looked like the actor who was pictured as Shang Tsung in the promo reel.

Funny bit of trivia I found in Wikipedia is that Mat Mullins used to play Kamen Rider. So I guess that's why they made Johnny Cage a former Power Ranger.

I liked this episode, though the acting wasn't exactly top-notch. That sideways flying kick Johnny did near the beginning was pretty awesome.
