I loved the look that arya gave to Joffrey/Cersei, when they were passing the sentance down on Lady. It was priceless.

This show has also taught me that I've been pronouncing Arya incorrectly all these years. I've always said it as A-rye-ya for some reason.

The Maester's chain is nothing like I thought it would look. I don't know if I like it.

I think it looks okay but I don't like that the show hasn't mentioned what the chain means or even what a Maester really is. It looks like they tried to make each link look like a different metal but what's the point if they don't give the reason why.

I think it would be very hard for them to explain what a Maester is without awkward dialogue ("As you already know...") and/or disrupting the plot.

Yeah, I'm sure that will come. I doubt anyone paid much attention to it if they weren't looking for it.

i heard two different pronoucings of it. One as are-i-a and one of are-ya. it seemed that the search party was shouting the 3 sylibal one where as Lord Ned was shouting the 2.

We named our dog Arya and pronounce it as are-ya

Re: Game of Thrones -- "The Kingsroad" -- 4/24/11

yeah, last nights episode was great from start to finish. I'm watching this series with no knowledge of the books, everything is new to me. I thought they did a pretty good job showing the connection between the children and the dire wolves. Between mentioning how rare they are, only allowing the royal children to have them, having one kill a assassin then lay next to his owner, I don't know how you couldn't draw the line that these are special. I liked how they did this without doing the corney scene where all the kids are sitting around naming their pets and getting all the exposition explained to them.

With all that said, the Dire Wolves are awesome, I want one more than a hover board.

I suspect we'll get some expository dialogue about a Maester's role and what his chain means when (minor minor spoilers)
Spoiler:
they introduce Samwell Tarly.

I think people who read the books may be forgetting that we saw the relationships between the Starks and their wolves grow organically over the course of the series, as we're seeing on the TV show. It's not like the books had a big speech about how the wolves symbolize their connection to the Stark clan or anything. It was pretty much like in the show -- Jon finds them, comments on how there are five pups for five Stark kids, and over the course of pages, you see incidents like Nymeria saving Arya from Joff or Summer saving Bran from the assassin -- and it's those incidents that allow the reader to realize the connection between the children and the wolves.

So question. Can we talk about the book up to the end of the episode? Or is that not allowed either?

I'd be careful about it, I'm sure some stuff will be aired out of order.

Re: Game of Thrones -- "The Kingsroad" -- 4/24/11

Good point, but what I want to talk about is directly associated with a scene that happened in episode 2. I suppose they could return to it later in a flashback I suppose?

anyways I will spoilerize it

Spoiler:
When lady was being killed, any reason why they didn't show the direwolves howling?

Re: Game of Thrones -- "The Kingsroad" -- 4/24/11

I think they decided to instead link it to
Spoiler:
Bran's awakening, for a stronger conclusion to the episode. There was no way to do that jump cut AND have the howling.

Was Ghost in the shots of Jon on the way to the wall or at camp?

Yes, brief shot of him at the Camp.

Some have thought that Jon's wolf not being around as a plot hole. I just took it that his wolf is a loner..and was most likely hunting and doing his own thing.

If they go by the books, one of those should be taken care of in the opening scene of the next episode.

Solid episode. I wasn't too moved by the death in this one. This show just comes off cold so not really affected by the killings.

I have sort of a spoiler question...

Spoiler:
All the talk about the dragon eggs... are there going to be actual dragons on this show? Please say yes!

Meet Michael Podniestrzanski.

The Florida man, 23, was arrested last night after an argument over the new HBO fantasy show “Game of Thrones” turned violent.

As will happen during shows “based on medieval times,” Podniestrzanski and his cousin “got into a verbal altercation” over which of the cable program’s characters was going to win, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.

“Game of Thrones,” which premiered last Sunday night, is based on the first book in a series of “epic fantasy” novels written by George R.R. Martin.

With the argument between Podniestrzanski and Joshua Ross escalating, Podniestrzanski allegedly “took a swing at” his kin. After scuffling for a bit, Podniestrzanski’s cousin “ended up getting thrown in to the front window during the altercation.”

Podniestrzanski was arrested for misdemeanor domestic battery and transported to the county jail, where he is currently being held.
GoT is serious business.
