No Gibbons/Liam this week... but still a solid episode.

The last four eps look intense.

So is this show getting canceled? The heat wave episode I thought was incredible, and this one was good too... I'm really starting to like it, I hope they don't can it.

P.S. Loved the Mayor Daley clone, lol!

Thanks for the optimism.

No decision will be made until next month. If the show gets renewed, Shawn Ryan will be back as showrunner for at least 2 more seasons. If not, he's leaving working for FOX and will move to Sony Pictures.

Sorry, but all my shows always get the axe, lol... I did see that in the last thread though, so that's probably a good sign

Do police officers in Chicago stll use the term "coppers"? And why have they started using the term a lot more? I dont remember hearing it earlier in the series.

The lawyer character wasnt bad either. I feared the worst when I saw her.

Re: The Chicago Code -- "St. Valentine's Day Massacre" -- 4/18/11

I know 2 suburban cops (brother and best friend), and one Chicago cop, and let's just say over the past two episodes the use of the term copper stood out like a sore thumb to me...

I don't know the Chicago cop real well, so maybe someone else with better knowledge of the subject can chime in. Seemed wrong to me though.

What's up with Aldis Hodge keep popping up in roles like this? Weird to see a guy who is currently on a tv show doing other tv shows.

He's far from the only one. Damn near everyone is doing multiple shows.

I think he's talking about many TV actors in general guest starring on a bunch of shows on different networks.

ok, but if that's the case, who else that has a job as a main actor on one show is going spots on another show?

Well, a few weeks ago F/X was broadcasting an new episode of Lights Out with Pablo Schreiber and Bill Irwin, and at the very same hour they both were appearing on a new episode of The Good Wife.

Episodes without Gibbons aren't my favs, but still fun to watch.

Also, I'd like more continuous storylines in this show.

Re: The Chicago Code -- "St. Valentine's Day Massacre" -- 4/18/11

I recognized the lawyer in the wheelchair as the doctor in the wheelchair from Private Practice. I didn't know if the wheelchair was just for the role on PP or not...guess it's wasn't.

He's a Chicago actor. I found this on his IMDB resume: "Oh, and I re-learned how to stand and walk after two spinal strokes almost killed me in 2003 and every doctor said I'd never walk again--I can now walk up to 1/2 mile with the use of a walker and use a wheelchair."

Re: The Chicago Code -- "St. Valentine's Day Massacre" -- 4/18/11

I'm a native Chicagoan and the 'copper' thing has been driving me nuts the past couple of episodes. I've never heard anyone say copper in Chicago, unless they were referring to the metal. It's also a little odd that almost everyone on the show sounds like they grew up on the South side, even the rich kid who went to Northwestern. I don't know anyone in real life with a such a crazy accent!

Despite those minor gripes, I've really been enjoying this show.

Re: The Chicago Code -- "St. Valentine's Day Massacre" -- 4/18/11

A really good self contained episode.

I'm surprised that noone mentioned the Isaac/Vonda segment used a little of the Rashomon type storytelling. I liked seeing Cathy Cahlin Ryan play the nasty little bitch. I loved the 1st perspective with Isaac going ape shit crazy.

I think Jennifer Beals has gotten better player Colvin as the weeks have gone by. She may not have the gravitas like Tom Selleck on Blue Bloods, but I think she's improved alot.

Can someone clarify something: Why did that clerk order the murders? I'm not sure I understood what went on there.

Southland is still my favorite cop drama right now, but I think The Chicago Code is slowly creeping up there. It's too bad this show is on FOX. Imagine what they could do with this show on HBO or Showtime.

While Dad was in prison, she was the real runner of the gang that had a protection racket going, not her brother. The men killed had refused to pay protection money.

I've been enjoying this show, but it's not really in the same league as Southland.

Dialogue-wise and Grittiness, not even close to Southland.

But, for a watered down network cop show, it's pretty well written with interesting characters.
