Sad to find out it wasn't Mulders sister. Now we have clones and shape shifters on the show. Great episode. |
Re: My X-files journey
Somewhere Mulder is crying
http://www.seti.org/ Allen Array Forced Offline Federal and state funding cutbacks for operations of U.C. Berkeley’s Hat Creek Radio Observatory (HCRO) force hibernation of Allen Telescope Array – In an April 22, 2011 email (PDF) to Allen Telescope Array stakeholder level donors, SETI Institute CEO Tom Pierson described in detail the recent decision by U.C. Berkeley, our partner in the Array, to reduce operations of the Hat Creek Radio Observatory (and thus the Allen Telescope Array) to a hibernation state effective this month. NSF University Radio Observatory funding to Berkeley for HCRO operations has been reduced to approximately one-tenth of its former level and, concurrently, growing State of California budget shortfalls have severely reduced the amount of state funds available for support of the HCRO site. What next for the ATA? – The SETI Institute is working on numerous efforts to insure the Array comes back on line as soon as possible. Pierson’s email outlines potential work the ATA may be performing for the United States Air Force. Donor support is also needed to restart SETI observations on the Array. For the first time in history, SETI researchers are poised to use the ATA to examine the bounty of smaller planetary systems starting to be revealed by NASA’s Kepler Mission. We are also working with a consortium of big thinkers to develop exciting opportunities for the public to participate in the future of SETI, making the science much less vulnerable to government budget cycles. Watch for these future developments in the realm of our citizen science. In the interim, if you haven’t already done so, check out the early results of these efforts at setiQuest.org and setiQuest Explorer. Public help is needed – Donate now – Help return the ATA to operations and support the exciting SETI exploration of the Kepler planets over the next two years. You can read about our Kepler Worlds search and donate to the effort here. More detail – You can read more details about the Allen Telescope Array hibernation and our plans to correct this situation here (PDF). Update, April 27, 2011 - We have received questions about what the ATA hibernation means to the overall health of the SETI Institute. Our Institute remains a robust and viable research organization. Strong programs continue uninterrupted in our Center for Education and Public Outreach and our Carl Sagan Center for the Study of Life in the Universe. In our Center for SETI Research, work continues on the development of citizen science programs to engage the public in SETI research; and Jill Tarter & her team are highly energized and motivated to find the solutions that will bring the ATA back on line. |
Re: My X-files journey
I stopped watching X-Files because I cancelled my Netflix. Now i finally acquired season 2 i started back up:
"Fearful Symmetry" James Whitmore, Jr. Steve De Jarnatt February 24, 1995 2X18 Mediocre episode but very sad ending. Were the aliens using Zoo Animals as a sort of guinea pig for impregnating Humans? |

And I love these kinds of show marathons, I can live vicariously through this, since I have zero time nowadays. |

19 "Død Kalm" Rob Bowman Teleplay by: Howard Gordon & Alex Gansa
Story by: Howard Gordon March 10, 1995 2X19 10.2[22] What an improvement over the last episode! The makeup on Mulder and Scully alone made it worth watching. It had such a creepy vibe. I also noticed Howard Gordan came up with the story. His episodes always seem better than others. |
Re: My X-files journey
Mulder/scully moments. We're touching

Re: My X-files journey
Glad you stuck with this. It really was a great show to watch first run. I bought the DVDs and tried to watch them all, but life got in the way and I stopped in Season 5. I'll have to get back to them again.

Re: My X-files journey
I wish I could watch the first five or six seasons fresh again with no knowledge of what is going to happen.

"Did you know you can train your testicles to drop down into your abdomen?" "I'm doing that as we speak" What the fuck did I just watch?! Easily the most disturbing X-Files episodes yet and is now in my top five favorite episodes. At first I thought this was a X-mas ep. How wrong I was. I can't believe this even made it to the air for a show made back then. And I loved the ending. "Must've been something I ate." That's what I love about going in blind with this show. You never know what to expect :) |

The episode did not make me a fan of the show and I still didn't start watching The X-Files regularly until later on, when I was finally hooked. I do now like "Humbug" as a good episode of the show but, for me personally, it was a lousy introduction to the show. |
Re: My X-files journey
My wife and I are watching The X-Files series for the 3rd time, we're currently on Season 5. We'll watch the movie (Fight the Future) next, then on to Season 6...
Even though the story arc changes with the addition of Doggett, we still enjoyed (are enjoying) The X-Files tremendously from start to finish. One of the best shows ever on television, along with Stargate SG-1/Atlantis and Babylon 5. -kd5- Spoiler:

Re: My X-files journey
Yeah humbug not the best intro to the show since it was essentially a comedy hour

21 "The Calusari" Michael Vejar Sara B. Charno April 14, 1995 2X21 7.9[22]
What seemed like another run of the mill child is evil story, It went in a direction i didn't see coming. Good but not the greatest ep. I hope they get back to the main story arc soon. |

Another good Howard Gordon Ep. Was really cool seeing Dean Norris (Hank from Breaking Bad) in this one :) 23 "Soft Light" James Contner Vince Gilligan May 5, 1995 2X23 8.1[22] What a fantastic episode! The twist at the end was great as well. Nice to see X show up again. Also a weird coincidence Vince Gilligan was the writer when the episdoe before it had Dean Norris in it. |

24 "Our Town" Rob Bowman Frank Spotnitz May 12, 1995 2X24 9.0[22]
This felt like a filler episode. I guess those masks were supposed to be scary but it just came off as silly. It was hard to top the previous episode is what made it feel like a mediocre episode. 25 "Anasazi"* R. W. Goodwin Teleplay by: Chris Carter Story by: David Duchovny & Chris Carter May 19, 1995 2X25 9.6[22] So the Government has a boxcar filled with Aliens for all these years and didn't think someone would find them? Why not just burn all the evidence or keep the bodies in a more secure location? Other than that it was a good episode. Looking forward to season 3. |

Re: My X-files journey
I decided instead of buying the season sets individually i went looking and ordered:
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...llection01.jpg $155 for all nine seasons and the first movie seemed like a good deal. Amazed amazon wanted $378 for the same set! |
Re: My X-files journey
This is something I could really stand to rewatch. I was a very casual fan, but didn't really internalize this show, so most of it would be fresh to me. Big first world problem is having the desire to watch a lot of old tv shows, and having easy access to almost all of them (I want to rewatch DS9 too).

1 "The Blessing Way"* R. W. Goodwin Chris Carter September 22, 1995 3X01 19.94[7]
Good season opener but couldn't stand the Navajo Indians sub plot. Just7 came off as silly. 2 "Paper Clip"* Rob Bowman Chris Carter September 29, 1995 3X02 17.20[7] Liked this one better. The payoff with the Navajo Indians was pretty cool with Skinner facing down Cancer man! And also am predicting the hitrman cancer man tried to off still has the Data tape. |

Great episode and loved seeing Giovanni Ribisi and Jack Black! Also am geeky enough to notice the sonic theme in the background at the Arcade. I don't recall Sega releasing a Sonic Arcade game? |
