Re: My X-files journey
In one of the documentary extras, Duchovny says that Ice was the first episode when the program came together.
Although Season 6 is a comedown from season 5, it's still pretty good, and it has a nice wrap-up to the mythology arc. I think you should watch to the end of season 6. Then stop. |
Re: My X-files journey
If you've made it to the end of Season 6, I say just see it through until the end.

Re: My X-files journey
^As one who made it through the whole series (granted it's a little different watching a weekly broadcast compared to gorging), I'd tend to agree. Keep watching as long as you feel engaged.

10"Fallen Angel"** Larry Shaw Howard Gordon & Alex Gansa November 19, 1993
Mythology Episode. It seems like Deepthroat has been pulling Mulder in a different direction for some unknown reason. Since at the end of the ep. we learn some big government guy knows Deepthroat is supplying Mulder with the info. 11 "Eve" Fred Gerber Kenneth Biller & Chris Brancato December 10, 1993 Good M.O.T.W. episode. Those cloned girls were creepy as hell. Great casting job there. It seems like they opened the possibility of one of the eves to come back in a future episode. |

mhg did say in his original thread that he likes this kind of gorging

Re: My X-files journey
I was just looking up on Wikipedia what Carter is up to now out of coincidence earlier tonight. Some talk that they wanted to do a third movie that is what the second should have been, resolving the mythology of the show, and focused on a 2012 release, since that was the end of times in the show. Considering the timing, and the mootness of bringing it out after 2012, they need to get cracking now and ramp up production on the third film. It could still be done by 2012... I'd hate to never get a resolution for this show, or what is supposed to happen in the X-Files universe in 2012.

13 "Beyond the Sea" David Nutter Glen Morgan & James Wong January 7, 1994
M.O.T.W. episode. Very effective performance by the death row inmate. Glad to see Scully is starting to believe. 14 "Gender Bender" Rob Bowman Larry Barber & Paul Barber January 21, 1994 M.O.T.W. episode that possibly turns into an Mythology/Alien ep. I liked how they've made it possible for the evil characters to get away. I don't recall Fringe ever doing that with any of their M.O.T.W. ep. 15 "Lazarus" David Nutter Alex Gansa & Howard Gordon February 4, 1994 M.O.T.W. episode. I liked how the sci-fi elements were there but how they mixed in a great action/ hostage standoff scenes. Also noticed this was written by 24 writer Howard Gordon. |

Re: My X-files journey
Yeah, one of my favorite parts about revisiting The X-Files was seeing all the actors who were just starting out.
And speaking of several actors later appearing in 24, they managed to work Doug Hutchison (Tooms) into 24's final season, which I thought was pretty cool. |
Re: My X-files journey
I have watched the whole series twice plus the movies. I really wish I could erase those memories and re-watch this series again fresh. Very good show. I liked it better than Lost. And a very close second to 24.

17 "E.B.E."** William Graham Glen Morgan & James Wong February 18, 1994
Mythology episode and the first appearance by the Lone Gunmen. "She's hot" Those guys are great characters. 21 "Tooms" David Nutter Glen Morgan & James Wong April 22, 1994 First appearance by Skinner and the return of the first M.O.T.W Tooms is even creepier than his first appearance. I'd rank this episode up there with "ICE" as my favorite M.O.T.W episodes so far. |
Re: My X-files journey
22 "Born Again" Jerrold Freedman Howard Gordon & Alex Gansa April 29, 1994
M.O.T.W. episode. This seemed a little too close to the episode "Lazerus" Still a good episode but seemed odd they would recycle a M.O.T.W. starting out in the first season. 24 "The Erlenmeyer Flask"** R.W. Goodwin Chris Carter May 13, 1994 Season Finale Mythology Episode. Lots of shockers; The alien/ human hybrid experiments, Scully's discovery, Deepthroat shot and possibly dead? And the closing of the X-files. Great season finale. I'm afraid to read websites and the full wikis for future ep. spoilers; Was The Erlenmeyer Flask the container Scully had at the end for the trade off? |
Re: My X-files journey
Wow, that was quite a turnaround on Tooms since you didn't like the first episode.

Done with season 1 already?

Re: My X-files journey
I also liked how they book ended the season with the Pentagon scene . With that and the closing of the X-files, did they think the show wouldn't continue? Like it was originally a series finale?

So we have a trek journey and a x-files journey.
We did the x-files journey, and did 2 episodes per day..it was like built into our schedule. Good luck. Though, my thread has no chance of having trannies in it, so I'm already losing. Also, he's moving at breakneck speed compared to us. I can't compete. |
Re: My X-files journey
<3 X-Files. Got into it late during the original broadcast (Season 4), but caught up with it quickly on DVD. Pointless trivia note: X-Files was the first TV show to be released on DVD in "season" collections. Still remember opening up that package and seeing 6 discs folded out in front of me! LOL :D
It's been too long since I watched any episodes. Probably since I reviewed the complete series collection a few years ago. :) |
Re: My X-files journey
Oh, how I LOVED X-Files when it first aired; I was a huge fan. I watched every season, in order, about 5 years ago or so. I had stopped watching the first-run episodes sometime around S6, so many were new to me. I found that I still enjoyed many of them, and even though I lamented the loss of Mulder, I think John Doggett was a great addition to the cast that many people dismiss too easily. The series finale didn't end things on a high note, but the series produced some of the best TV I've ever seen.
