This looks like a great series but unfortunately don't underestimate the stupidity of the American public who prefer lame CBS shows.

HBO had Oscar winner Kate Winslet and some good reviews, but that wasn't enough to turn "Mildred Pierce" into a ratings star.
Sunday's premiere of the miniseries -- based on James M. Cain's 1941 novel about the travails of a Depression-era housewife -- delivered just 1.3 million total viewers, according to the Nielsen Co.
That was on the low end for a HBO miniseries. The historical drama "John Adams" premiered to 2.5 million viewers back in 2008. "Mildred Pierce" was on par with "Generation Kill," the 2008 miniseries about the Iraq war, which featured no big-name stars.

Personally going in I had no idea what this series was going to be about. I'm not sure if it just wasn't advertised well or more then likely I just haven't been watching anything on HBO recently to see the advertising. Kate Winslet was the only reason I gave this a shot and while I'm loving it that might not have been enough of a reason for most to try it.

I don't know if John Adams is a fair comparison because I seem to remember that being sold as a huge event long in advance. And I'm not an HBO subscriber.

Yeah I loved it as I said earlier in this thread, but what does CBS have to do with it

As long as Mad Men and Breaking Bad continue to air on AMC I'll be happy. Same thing with HBO and their outstanding original programming.
