This. Minus the plane. Just decided to try again on Netflix and really liked it. Wife got tired of hearing me laughing and I ended up having to rewatch the first two seasons again with her lol.

Always Sunny and The League are two others.

Just recently started watching Archer.

I picked up It's Always Sunny... seasons 1-3 while the 4th season was airing, then bought that season when it was available on DVD. I've been up to date with the show ever since.

Battlestar Galactica: started in early 2009, and finished watching five episodes before the series finale.

Lost: Watched the first five seasons two months before season 6 started.

Mine as well. Watched one episode in the second half of season 4, went out and bought the other 3 seasons and downloaded season 4 in time to watch the last 2 episodes live.

Same here, only I started in the middle of Season 4 and was caught up in time for it's return from the holiday break.

Currently I am catching up on Mad Men. Started it for the TV on DVD challenge and slowly working my way through S2.

Re: Ever discover a series way into first-run life span?

Battlestar Galactica - Started watching during season 2, sometime during the mid-season break. I remember screaming at the TV when that last shot was up knowing that I couldn't continue the breakneck pace I had been watching. It was appointment television after that.

It's Always Sunny - I got the first 4 seasons from Amazon about a year ago, but only recently watched them. I've watched season 5 from Netflix and I'm dying to see season 6 (even though I hear it's a bit of a let-down).

I'm about to get into Parks & Rec and Justified based on recommendations, so those are likely to count as well, if my friends can be trusted.

Re: Ever discover a series way into first-run life span?

How I Met Your Mother - Only started watching this last year based on a friend's recommendation. First few episodes were really rocky, but I stuck with it and I'm really glad I did.

Scrubs - Didn't get into this until the first season hit DVD, which I believe was shortly before the fourth season started up.

Futurama - I remember watching the pilot when it first aired and didn't really dig it. Didn't fall in love with the show until after it'd been cancelled and came out on DVD.

I'm sure there's several others, but those are the big ones that jump to mind when looking at my DVD collection.

Well, I was gonna start new, but thought I had already done this. Plus, I think a lot are discovering or rediscovering shows recently...

Re: Ever discover a series way into first-run life span?

I watched seasons 1-10 of Supernatural on Netflix earlier this year. Hoping Netflix gets season 11 soon so I can binge it before season 12 starts.

Re: Ever discover a series way into first-run life span?

Didn't even realize this thread was 5 years old until someone mentioned it.

Current shows I was late to start:

NCIS ~ My wife got me started on this show, there were already 8 seasons out when I started from S1 (stopped watching after S10).

Supernatural ~ Not sure how many seasons were already out when I got started (I've yet to buy beyond S10).

Shows from the past I started watching late:

Fringe ~ There were already 3 seasons out when I got started.

Stargate SG-1 ~ several (not sure how many) seasons were already out when I got started, late with Stargate Atlantis too (only because of continuity issues).

Shows I was late starting only because I couldn't watch until they were released for purchase (we don't stream):

Game of Thrones

The Walking Dead

Re: Ever discover a series way into first-run life span?

Just finished a complete run binge of Parks and Recreation (thanks, Netflix).
To me, this show felt like a lame Office-clone when it originally aired, though I never watched it and based that solely on commercials.

Now - having watched the entire run - I consider this one of my favorite comedy series of recent memory. I loved it, and I miss it now....

These are shows that have already ended, not still running. It has to be a show still producing new episodes, but you didn't start watching until several seasons in.

I started watching Scrubs when the reruns premiered on Comedy Central, two episodes a night. It looks like that happened Fall 2006, so I think I started watching it as it aired in season 6.

Re: Ever discover a series way into first-run life span?

Most shows if I haven't watched from the beginning, I've watched them from the second season onafter they got good buzz.

The exceptions are few but off the top of my head:

The West Wing (got into it after they started releasing earlier seasons on DVD)
Oz
Buffy
Angel
