While I don't know if the Jim Beam ad with Willem DaFoe aired in all markets, that's the perfect product to push during this kind of show given its setting.
This is a show I might have to start watching live(as I did last night), as I want it to succeed and apparently DVRing doesn't help the cause. The only frustration I had with last night's ep. was the fact that I had to wait another week to see more.

That Jim Beam ad felt like it was about 5 minutes long. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing from an advertisers point of view.
Good epsiode, the poisoning scene was fantastic.

Got into a debate with my brother about which show is better: SOA or Justified.
Last night's episode, to me, perfectly showcased why it's Justified. (Though maybe it's just the memory of this past season of SOA that has me saying that, but I'm pretty sure it's Justified.)
The actors on this show know their role and deliver it well. Obviously some stand out above the others, but it's just so well done. The dialogue that is written sets the perfect situations and fits so well. The places humor is interwoven with the drama always seems to fit perfectly. Just really high on this show. (I seem to be one of the few (only one?) that didn't watch the previews for the season, but I can only imagine how great this season will be.)
And seeing Natalie at the end of the show just made it even better! (Ava's a pretty girl, but I can see why Raylan would hope to get Winona back.)

Season 3 of SOA didn't even deserve to be on FX in light of it's company, so it's really no question IMO.

I kinda hope Loretta gets vengeance and ends up being the one to off Mags at the end of the season. Possibly through the use of her own apple pie, turnabout being fair play.

Any word on how the ratings were last night?

Yeah, Justified is a much better show from every standpoint than Sons Of Anarchy. Sons Of Anarchy was great in the first two seasons, but never quite hit the brilliance of Justified. And that's ignoring the completely awful third season of Sons Of Anarchy.
And for what it's worth, as much as I love Justified, I'd probably put Terriers () above even Justified. God, I miss that show. I wish they'd release it on DVD/Blu-ray, I've been wanting to revisit it since the show ended.
I would much rather there be a situation where Loretta is about to kill her, but Raylan kills her instead to preserve what little is left of Loretta's innocence.

I recommended to my brother he needs to start watching Justified, and he told me he would dvr it this week. I said it will fill the empty place in your tv watching now that 24 is over.

That posioning scene made my blood run cold. Mags could turn out to be the best TV villain since Antwon Mitchell in The Shield. She made killing him seem almost like kindness on her part.

The promo spot for Wilfred (the man dressed in a dog suit) looked pretty funny. I might have to check that out.

I continue to be impressed with Tim Olyphant. He is just so cool as a lawman; it was like he was born to portray one whether it's Deadwood or this. The gas station scene was great.

Apparently it's a remake of an Australian show of the same name. The actor that played Wilfred in the original is also going to play him in the remake. And yeah, it looks pretty funny in a twisted sort of way.

Didn't they put the poison in the glass? They were all drinking the apple pie in that final scene and I thought she explained it to him as he was dying that the poison was not in the apple pie but already in the glass and that was why it was just him and why they were able to drink with him.

I think FX is re-airing this ep. sometime this weekend. I might have to DVR it so I can catch some of the more subtle aspects of the performances.

By all rights Olyphant should be a bigger star than he is.
I guess his photo on the board means that they went ahead and killed off Johnny Crowder. When he was gut shot and left for dead I figured that meant he would be coming back this year.

This show dominates. The Bennett clan should make for a great crop of villains.
I wonder how Boyd and Eva will fit into the season's main arc?

I loved that they teased Boyd with him shouting "fire in the hole", just like he did in the first episode but in a very different context.
I'm a bit puzzled as to whether he was in a really poor imitation of a coal mine or whether he was blasting into something else.
Margo Martindale and Jeremy Davies are excellent choices for villains, and I agree that Martindale in particular may play the best villain since Antwon Mitchell. Of course, Boyd Crowder might also be in the running for that, depending on where his arc on this show goes.
I love Sons of Anarchy and Burn Notice. They very well may be my 2nd and 3rd favorite shows (with Burn Notice currently getting the higher marks). This show blows their doors off. With all respect Terriers deserves, I think this show even eclipses it. The next three months are going to be great.
