"the primary word there being fire, which might be of some concern to someone covered in gasoline"
Didn't have the best start to the ep but it finished on a high note

So glad to have this show back. Totally worth the wait. It doesn't seem like the time off has hurt them creatively either. I was really impressed with the writing this episode, having both a self-contained story in the child molester and setting up a season-long arc in the moonshiner/marijuana growers.
Nice to see they sort of resolved the people from Miami being after Raylan, but left open the possibility that they might eventually come after him again at some point in the future, should things change.
I'm really looking forward to the mom and her sons as the enemies this season. She's already proven herself a worthy adversary, loved the final scene with her. It will probably also be interesting to see how Raylan goes about taking them down, especially since one of the sons is a police officer, albeit a corrupt one. Great to see Jeremy Davies in this as well, loving his character.
That opening scene with Raylan and Boyd was great. I loved Boyd pulling her out of the truck, the banter between Raylan and Boyd about who really killed Boyd's father, and them shooting the guy in the plane.
The quick transition between Raylan and Winona talking to them in bed was hilarious, as was Raylan saying, "Son of a bitch."
From the previews, I'm very much looking forward to the return of one character in particular:
It's also great to see the writers continue to show restraint with Raylan shooting everyone. He easily could've shot the guy, but opted for a different approach that was, for storytelling purposes, far more creative and funny, and yet totally in keeping with the character. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing Raylan shooting the bad guys, but it makes you appreciate those scenes more when they're tempered. Not to mention I still say the best episode of the first season was the one where Raylan talked the inmate down from the hostage situation.

Fucking awesome! That is all.
I watch a lot of TV and the writing/acting on this show is the most enthralling of anything in the last handful of years IMO. I absolutely can't help but have a smirk on my face anytime there is a conversation. It's an absolute artform with this show.

Just based on this episode and the previews, I have a feeling this will be even better than Season 1.

I always loved the dialog in Aaron Sorkin's shows but Justified has even surpassed those. I find myself wanting to immediately re-watch each episode because they are just so awesome.

Lived up to expectations.... For some reason I just assumed this show was a standalone story, and was thinking "what the hell they're not going to say what happened to the girl?"
For some reason I really liked the scene about needing another marhsall in the office when Raylan surrendered his gun and they end up drinking some whiskey. And the line about why not just get an uzi was hilarious.
And to echo many of the comments on this thread, the dialogue on this show is tremendous.

^^ I missed the reason why Raylan had to surrender his gun? Granted this is my first time watching this show... did I miss something?

Jeremy Davies makes a great villain. I'm glad this isn't a one-shot episode for him.
Not enough Boyd, though.

Yeah..his creep factor is already pretty big, so this backwoods hillbilly role is just natural for him. I love the dynamic of him being so small and them giving him the handicap of the limp yet because he's obviously nuts and because of who he is, he is still king shit of that area. Fantastic setup for that whole family last night.

Good ep. Not the strongest one I've seen, but the preview they showed at the end made it look like this season is going to kick all sorts of ass.
This show kind of has a Burn Notice vibe in terms of structure. You have one ongoing arc for the season with which they usually bookend the ep., and get a standalone story so new viewers can get on board with ease.

Seriously--best show out there. The combination of the dialogue and Olyphant's delivery is pure genius.
And that poisoning scene was pure evil, and brilliantly done.

The scene where the mom poisons the neighbor was powerful stuff. I didn't see that coming at all. What an evil bitch.

She's already scarier than Bo Crowder. I loved that scene in the grocery store where she and Raylan were making small talk. It was pleasant on the surface, but you could feel the tension underneath. She should make a great villain this season.

And with the dirty cop/son afterwards. Everybody is all smiles and just waiting to punch the shit out of each other.

Awesome episode.
I like that the show doesn't always have to rely on over the top violence and shows alot of restraint by using good dialogue to tell the story. I enjoyed the case of the week with the child molestor Jimmy Earl Dean and that he also tied into the seasonal arc with Raylan against the Bennett family.
The scene where Mags poisoned Loretta's father was awesome and evil.
Jimmy: "Hey are you stealing gas?"
Raylan: "Yes, I'm stealing gas. Can I have a couple of gallons?"
Loved the jump cut to Raylan saying "Son of a Bitch" after hooking up with Winona.
Winona: "Yeah that's what a girl wants to hear as Pillow talk"
I'm interested to seeing what Boyd is up to this season.

I really liked it overall. Loved the "You should think about an Uzi." line, and the country store scene was great as well. And while I like the actress/character of the girl some of the dialog in the pot barn scene didn't feel natural.
Also, I'm an Ava fan. She's hot and charming and I can't wrap my head around Raylan passing on her for the ex.

I liked this.
"Even if you were to be put on a helicopter now you'd be past care."
That whole scene was an example of absolutely excellent writing. Writing delivered by a talented cast, but most notably delivered by a very talented actress.
I watch very little TV as to episodic shows, but I had caught most of the first season in reruns due to me being a fan of Olyphant in general. I'm in for this season now.
Weds night is a TV show night now.
