The problem with the original series (not the two mini-series) is that they hired soap opera writers to the writing staff. Not writers with any background in science fiction.

Yep. Even worse - they hired the soap opera writers not good enough to write for Dynasty. And when you look back at the hair styles and uniforms, it screamed Dynasty.

Absurd why? She's an alien, they don't think like us.

Absurd in the sense that it's lame metaphysical nonsense that the writers are trying to pass off as deep and thought-provoking. Absurd in the way we must think we're all idiots for thinking that it's an interesting idea in any way, shape, or form.

I enjoy it for the most part. It's not the best TV ever but I do think what would vastly improved it would be if they would just get some kind of direction and an idea of when to end the series. It's not doing well so they shouldn't be plotting this like it's going to go on endlessly. They should plot it with solid stories that last the entire season and count their lucky stars if they get picked up for another season.

Lost started to wander around like this too before they decided when to end the series. If they came out and said this season was the end you know it would end on an unresolved cliffhanger. If they get one more season out of this they really just need to make that the last season (since I doubt the ratings will vastly improve) and wrap it up. Perhaps with a visible goal in place they would actually make more progress.

Has the series even mentioned whether the V have religion of any sort?

Maybe in the series finale, all of the Vs will accept Jesus, and then team up with the Christian Americans to defeat the forces of evil: Muslims, atheists, liberals, Darwinists, and homosexuals.

And we'll find out that Diana's mother is sarah palin.

Religion as we know it requires a soul. The closest the V's come is their... "worship" ... of their Queen. There was a line in the most recent episode (uttered in front of Anna) that talked about how if humans didn't have souls, they'd just be animals. That's what the V's are.

Yawn.

Wait...the Bible says all of creation praises God. So does that mean animals have a soul? And lizards from space are somehow incapable of having what lizards on Earth have?

I wished the writers had thought of that question.

See - now it's interesting you mention that. I was thinking it would have made it much more relevant, given current events, for them to have Islam be the ones most questioning the Vs and have Anna talk to Muslim clerics.

And if you lump all Christianity together, no. Islam (if you lump that together) is 2nd.

Battlestar Galactica had a better concept that their religion permeated all the tribes no matter where they were at.

I appreciate what V is trying to do with this topic but it's bogging down what is probably going to be a short series anyway.

What they need is a do-over with what appears to be the story line now.

And, bring in Richard Dawkins as a consultant.
