It couldn't possibly be you were wrong.

Pssst....she's been kickass since the beginning. I had many conversations during S1 about how she played her character unlike any other female lead on TV and was by far the strongest. I didn't find anything emotionless about her at all. This season has caused her to definitely be more emotional, but I didn't find anything robotic about her previous performances.

But, as great as this episode was, can we talk a sec about that terrible fucking Sprint ad when Peter walked outside to talk to Astrid.

I think that may have been the most disturbing thing I have seen on tv in years.

While I agree that it was great that they broached the relationship subject sooner rather than later, I completely disagree about her reaction being matter-of-fact, or about her changing her mind any time soon.

Her emotionally charged reaction was clearly born out of her grief and pain, thanks to her feelings of betrayal and violation. She may ultimately decide that this is the best thing for her, but she may also realize that Peter is not to blame in the way that she currently sees him, and forgive him.

Right after the commercial!

I don't mind if it saves Fringe. Product placement away!

has Broyles ever previously identified himself as "Colonel Broyles FBI"

then camera makes 2 quick cuts to Pete and O' where they make facial expressions

hmm...

had to be a reason for that

I noticed that too. I thought another character would mention it after, but no one did. Curious.

I thought the reason for the cut to P & O was because of what the person on the line said back to Broyles...

(paraphrasing)

"This is Colonel Broyles of the FBI, I need to speak with your Executive Director immediately" "Yes, it's urgent, that's why I said immediately"

(Camera cut to P & O)

Far-away or close up? I captured the images from a YouTube HD video that was in 720p and 1366x768.

this is where i hate to sound like an a-hole....
Thanks, but...thats not the shot.
Same composition, but they're outside, walking away from a white building (stadium?) and Walter and Peter's sides are reversed. Its a slightly low angle and the wind is slightly blowing Olivia's hair.

(okay..that sounded a bit creepy even to me).

Now that I know which one you were talking about, I found it. I agree with you that it is a cool shot. I like Walter's bemused grin.

Same as before: 720p video, 1364x567 (cropped out the credits).

That jumped out at me as well. So much so that I had to look it up in the Fringe Wikipedia. He is in fact a Colonel, retired from some unspecified branch.

I thought still that it might be a hint at something, but later in the episode a secondary character says to Peter and Olivia "Colonel Broyles sent these over". At that point they definitely would have said something.

I think he's taking using the Col. title again to pay respect to the man who saved Olivia.

The world's been doing just fine without reincarnating Andrew 'Dice' Clay.
