I've heard the name, but couldn't tell you a single song by Ben Folds Five. Boyz II Men, on the other hand, I own every single album including their two christmas albums. O_O
I'll have to check out some of the stuff Ben does.

I know why I haven't heard many songs by Ben Folds. In California, they didn't play him on the same radio stations playing Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Tupac, etc. So looks like I missed out. :-)
Back on Topic:
Finally caught up on the Weds. show. Loved the twist at the end. Not a fan of the backbeats though personally.

The Backbeats did the best song of the season this past week. I take back what I said. I'm glad they stuck around.
JJ, she might not be your favorite, but to suggest Nicole Whateverherlastname is anything less than blazing hot is ke-ray-zee! I will agree though, the only judge worth a damn is Ben Folds.

I think the SCS cover of Creep was brilliant.

Backbeats were robbed. They were the best example of an a cappella "group". Never much cared for SCS as a finalist. Committed is an ok second place choice, but whatever.
I just loved everything The Backbeats did. And I can't think of another group with a female vocal percussionist. It's very cool, and I'll totally buy an album from them.
I felt like they were letting the grandparents on the stage for that. Sounded rooooooough.

Really? I didn't even think the backbeats belonged in the finals. I would've preferred the teachers to advance.

Committed are super talented, but outside of their Maroon 5 song, they were one of my least favorite performers week after week. Keep in mind, I think every group did really good stuff, so in no way am I saying they were bad, it's just I would take quite a few of the other groups over them.

I felt the Backbeats had the most solid group, with at least half of them able to handle a lead vocal. Plus their arrangements were really cool.

The Backbeats had only formed six weeks before the competition began and were really just an Allstar group from the first season, thus the name (hey we're "back" because we got "beat" last year).
I knew they would go far, but on principle, they couldn't win.
Next season they'll return under the name "3rd Time's a Charm."

I'll re-watch this again at some point and really give them a listen but I was ready for them to go once week 2 came around.

Wasn't it only like two of them?
No different then Jerry Lawson being there. He's definitely already had his shot.

Someone else is completely welcome to compete, but they're going to need to be better than the other groups to stick around. LeBron lost as a member of the Cavs, so he shouldn't be allowed to compete as a member of the Heat? I'm looking to see the best a capella performances each season, regardless of whether some of the participants have been there before. My one exception to that is I think winners should be prevented from returning.

Watched the whole series on demand, and every break alternated between ads for The Cape and Nanny McPhee
My favorites were Groove for Thought, Street Corner Symphony, and Committed. GfT is performing in Seattle in January and I'm thinking about going.
The Backbeats were good but I agree a little overrated. I didn't know about the returners so that's interesting. Jerry Lawson is a legend but I didn't think they were that great. It was probably a pride thing that they kept him all the way to the finale.
The finale was a mess. They wanted it to be an Idol-like all-star show, but no one ended up sounding very good.

Finally was able to watch the finale of this show. Was nice to see the judges actually perform with the contestants. Was real surprised to see Jerry and his crew go home. I thought for sure they would be a sentimental favorite of many that voted. But overall, I was happy with the two finalist. Exactly who I had picked. Glad the Backbeats finally got voted off. They stuck around WAY too long. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw an album from Street Corner Symphony as well as Committed before too long.

I didn't know about this show last year, but discovered this season and really enjoyed it. I was disappointed that SCS lost, as they were easily my favorite every episode for the most part. According to their website, they're about to start work on their first album, which I will definitely buy if it comes out.

Oh jesus, hyperbole much?
You could not like the Backbeats, and that's fine. But considering that other groups had serious pitch problems (Eleventh Hour), shitty attitudes (Pitch Slapped) forgot their words (Groove for Thought) or got by solely on nostalgia (Jerry Lawson), there is no way The Backbeats should have gone home first.
