Odd that they'd pair BB/MM together -- their two flagship shows. Maybe they plan on branching out and air original programming on a night other than Sunday as well.

I'm not sure how it will get handled in the show, but the book offers some clues on "can they die off?" If the show follows the book's format you will eventually learn the answer to that question. The book never spells out what caused the zombie outbreak, but you will learn the real steps on how zombies are made, how weather affects them, and the dozens of great questions/answers people have yet to even bring up on this board. I only hope that the producers of the show let the details flow organically and not push them out do to people pushing for answers.

See that is what sucks about todays tv series. The first season is only 6 eps. The 2nd will be 13 and they make us wait a damned year for it to return.

It's not AMC's fault with how the scheduling worked for this. They only greenlit 6 episodes of this show as an experiment to see if a genre show like this would work. There was no way they could know how popular this would be ahead of time. And when you factor in time to write, shoot, edit and post production with special effects, there is no way they could launch season 2 any sooner than Fall 2011.

I am glad that you can so blindly follow the show. Like I said I enjoy it but the lapses in judgement are really hampering my enjoyment of it. Just like it eventually did with Lost. I don't want to see it go down that road nor will I invest that much time in a series again with stupid things like this happening. So I guess if you don't like critisim of the show only read the positive posts. No where does it say only positive comments please.

Plausible yes, but a dull hacksaw will still cut metal. I have done it many times.

I think the reaction to the negative comments in the 3 episode threads so far are more testy because they're the same ones each week. There's been so many comments about people hating the characters, the dialogue, the logic, etc. We're 3 episodes in, and it's been the same complaints each week about people calling different things stupid and retarded and threatening to drop the show. If I thought things were that stupid, i'd just stop watching by now.

Sheesh, I just checked in to see if others thought this show was cool. I didn't expect to be lectured on how stupid I am for liking it.

For the people who find it so poorly made and intolerable ... why are you watching? I sentence you to a lifetime of watching made-for-Sci-Fi movies. I'll watch this without complaint. (yeah yeah, I'm a dumb sheep too ignorant to know better, I get it).

I dare you to name a single show or movie that one can not punch holes through. I bet I can tear any scene apart and I call you a mindless drone for not questioning it with ease. In fact, anyone can. It requires no particular skill to be an arm chair quarterback.

They say in professional fighting that everyone has a battle plan until the point where someone hits you in the face; when that happens you'll likely do something stupid. That's why fighters have corner men shouting out instructions. Panic leads to stupid actions.

Could a man clearly suffering from heat-stroke, dehydration and a panic attack brought on by being left for dead while zombies are literal clawing at you from 15 feet away calmly work at cutting his chains? Yes. Is it also possible that he'd panic and cut through his arm? Yes.

Go look up any news stories on hikers and mountain climbers who get lost in the wilderness and die. Pay attention to how many insane mistakes a experienced outdoors man makes that leads directly to their death. Check out all the comments from their friends and family who say stuff like "He's been hiking for years, I can't imagine why he did something like that." People make stupid decisions when under stress and fearing for their life.

If a comment was on something like our jumping off the roof of a 12 story building and running away, I'd agree that the writers did something so unbelievable that I'd agree to any and all negative criticism; but that is not the case here. If you take a plausible event and call it impossible then the mistake is clearly on your part.

I'm totally with you man. My wife and I LOVE this show, and I don't watch much TV at all (mostly movies). Most characters and writing I think is solid and entertaining enough for me. Can't wait for the other 3 episodes.

I agree with you AMC had good reasoning for only doing 6 episodes in the first season. It will suck to wait for season 2 but I think the writers will have a lot of time to work on season 2 which will ensure a quality second season.

Kidding. Some of the complaints seem to stem from a "That's not what I would have done" mentality. If characters on TV always did what I did, it would be boring as shit.

Maybe he panicked, maybe one zombie seemed like it was going to be able to squeeze out the door. Maybe a crazy Mel Gibson showed up with with a bomb and told Merle he could saw through the pipe in 10 minutes or his own arm in five.

The funny thing about the racist brother team is my girlfriend made the comment while we were watching that those two were the best characters of the bunch. She grew up around the redneck hunter area in the mountains in Montana and said everything from their clothes to their tone of voice was so dead-on it was fantastic.

She even loved the handcuff-hand-removal bit because it was just like the fox having to gnaw off its foot to get out of a bear-trap.

Career sailors and fishermen who have been lost at sea have been known to drink sea water and throw themselves off of their boats and drown when suffering from exposure and dehydration. Both acts are insanely stupid for those experienced at sea... They very much wanted to live too.

Question for those familiar with the comic:

The Morgan character played by Lennie James in the Pilot. Is that character a major player in the comics? Seemed to me that he and Rick really bonded in the Pilot and I woul love to see him again. You can spoilerize your answer since it's unknown if James will return to the show.

It is still renewed for only 13 episodes. This is what sucks. A season for most series used to be 26 episodes (sometimes more in the early years) so they just milk it with reruns. If Star Trek TOS was done today we would have had 39 episodes.

Just when a series gets going, the season is over.

That's not the point of the show though. It's not the point of the whole Zombie apocalypse genre either.

in the end, the zombies aren't all that dangerous. The real danger always comes from other humans.
