Really? Enlighten me, how is it "a fair bit more" than a zombie television show? I don't care who is airing it or what commercial you saw, how is this anything more than a television show about zombies?

How is this anything more than a website about DVDs?

Man, when the show had one of those 'Due to Violent Content...' warnings I thought we were going to get some sweet zombie action. I did not know the warning was about the can of whoop-ass Shane inflicted on wife-beating Ed. I mean, shit, that beatdown went so overboard I was surprised Ed was alive and Shane hadn't broken his hand afterwards. :D Also, is it me or does anyone else think that Lori Grimes looks like "Weed's" Nancy Botwin? I mean, seriously, Sarah Wayne Callies has been made to look so much like Mary-Louise Parker it's not even funny... OK, it is. :)

I actually disagree. Not only do I think the beat-down was not over the top, I think Shane and the women should have drowned him then and there. Same goes for the dickhead chained to the roof. Rather than chaining him to the roof, a bullet should have been put in his head. In this situation, you can't tolerate someone who's being belligerent, vying for power, beating up on others, etc.. Ed should have been put down for the good of the group. Instead, now they have to deal with a violent misogynist with a grudge.
Having said that, we are still not clear on his motivations. Was his relationship with Rick's wife completely above board? Will he turn on Rick down the road in an effort to get her back? Somebody (sorry I forget who) made a reference to the possibility that the affair was going on before "the world ended." Shane certainly was ambivalent about Rick's return ... was it shock, was it disappointment? |

So I just started this show a few nights ago, and I just finished up this episode. I've never been a fan of horror shows or the zombie genre, but this was getting such good talk amongst my friends that I had to check it out.
As for the situation with Merle, Spoiler:
As for the beating of Ed, that was interesting to see the reaction of his spouse/partner. What was terribly sad about that portrayal is that at the end of world, someone still gets put into a situation of domestic violence, and with all the support imaginable around her she still can't leave. Shane's beating of him seemed to be more out of the situation with Lori than with Ed's actions. |
