When Grimes laid down next to his wife and tried to initiate the nasty he looked over at their sleeping son - her comment? "don't worry - he won't wake up" ... WTF? My wife and I both wondered why he didn't ask "um .. how do YOU know this?"

I enjoyed this episode. Even though there weren't a lot of zombies, the survival aspect deserves some attention.

Exactly, I was wondering the same thing.

One thing this thread has taught me is that folks take their graphic novels and zombies seriously, and will rain condescension and wrath down upon those who offend them!

He was mocking you for making a grammatical error while criticizing the reading comprehension/literacy of others.

Those guys in the camp are hilariously incompetent, hitting the zombie repeatedly IN THE BACK with shovels and such. It's a wonder they got this far.

The use of a pitch fork was what got me. I mean, if your going to use a pitch fork in that situation it should be to pin and hold, not stab repeatedly in the torso.

I looked like the camp was reacting to a child calling out for help and a mob responded. I figure most of them realize in their rational mind that a head shot does the work, but that was more of a emotional burst of violence where everyone just needed to beat the shit out of something. Technically breaking the bones and muscles would stop it eventually... it was just horrible inefficient and pretty incompetent.
Had the zombie hunting party done that I would have a much bigger issue with that scene.

Not that anyone should be surprised by this at all, but season 2 isn't expected to premiere until October 2011. Frank Darabont is expected to write and direct at least 1 episode next season.

I just wanted to drop by and say that this was my favorite episode so far.
And this is coming from someone who loves all things Zombie related. Maybe that is why I liked it so much, I've seen enough of Zombie's that the character stuff is more interesting to me, especially in something like a TV show.

A little slow of an episode for me. Most of the story with the camp could of been done alittle faster. The camp doesnt feel stressfull or a zombie Apocalypse. The mountains do make sense to go but it makes for a more boring enviorment for the show. I loved the stuff from the first epsiode, boarding up the house, keeping lights low, scavaging during the day and then hearing the zombies out side at night. That would make for a much more interesting, tense and suspensiful enviorment for all the camp stuff. It would take the slower scenes from the episode and automatically turn them into a more tense and interesting scene.
The last 10 minutes or so of the episode were great. My problem is just the camp stuff is alittle too slow, no real sense of danger or danger. It feels to removed from the zombie outbreak

Maingon, if they did do what you suggested people would be bitchin' why didn't they do the exact opposite and stay away from the city? Either way people would be bitchin' regardless of what happens with this series. I said it before and I'll ask again, why would those who didn't read the series before the television version start reading now and ruin the end of the season? Just setting yourselves up for more dissapointment.

...because if they didn't cause a constant state of disappointment for themselves what would they have to whine about.

Why?
Shane tells her that Rick is dead. After some time she and Shane hook up because let's face it, being one of the few survivors in the world is fucking lonely. Then Rick turns up and of course she feels bad. She's also angry at Shane for lying.
I think she reacting perfectly reasonable.
