Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
Andy is very creative and quick. His comment about the view not being great for the floor with respect to Kirstie Alley had me rotfl even though i dont approve of fat Kistrie jokes.

I went to a Conan taping the other week (the episode with some guy from Glee  and Stephen Merchant :up). A lot of fun, but you spend like 3 hours just standing around waiting or walking to get to the studio where they film.

They had the band play a few songs before the show, and a guy run through the basic rules and warnings as well as make some decent jokes and introduce Andy. The show is really well run, not many edits on the actual broadcast for that taping. Conan does sing the end of the show song before leaving and did walk up to hug some people in the crowd that had a sign, but that was the only interaction I saw. |
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
when i saw conan back in the late night days, he came out before and shook hands.

Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
Finland week stream shows were great :) Be it Emmie Rossum interview, Angry Bird or Chelsea Handler making fun of Conan :).
|
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
I also liked the song game.
"Get both feet off the ground simultaneously" :D "I hate myself more" :D And there was one day the week before on Mattew Perry's interview when Conan's hair was really tall. The monologue writers are doing a bad job at jokes though. Pretty bad jokes. |
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
The audience girl rubbing Conan's boobs on the Martha Stewart show :D
Women get away with murder. |
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
Sarah Silverman makes some very inapproriate jokes, her joke about the baby girl being totally shaved....
I hope coco changes to the Ginjah Ninja. Thats a cool name. |
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
What is with the Conan hate on sci-fi, nerds, and fantasy movies?
Also dont like the hate on fat people (Kirstie Alley). He is like a jock |
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
conan makes fun of all kinds of groups of people. it's just easier with scifi nerds.

Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
I'll probably watch the Will Ferrel one, but I've stopped watching every night. It's just not as good as the Tonight Show, and especially Late Night.
The jokes every night are just rehashes of that Monday's jokes. I know you can say that about every late night talk show, but it seems more prevalent on Conan to me. |
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
I think it's a lot better than his The Tonight Show run personally. It's not as good as Late Night maybe, but I still really like it.
|
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
He needs to start doing things where he goes out on the streets and does sketches there.
The Ted Turner and Tyler Perry's Row 13 sketches aren't funny |
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
He's not taking the risks he used to. Which is weird, since actually owning his own show now and being on a cable station should afford him that opportunity more than it did back at NBC.
|
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
Andy is more funny.
But yeah, many of the monologue jokes are really bad. |
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
I think one thing to keep in mind though is that he's on considerably earlier than he ever has been before too. About half an hour earlier than The Tonight Show slot and an hour and a half earlier than Late Night was. I think going later would allow him to do more, but I really don't think he's bad. I think it's more the new skits he's doing aren't as memorable as old ones. It's a shame NBC won't let him have the rights to his old characters and bits.

Man, I remember being crucified for saying negative things about this show early on. Glad you guys are finally realizing the truth.

I still DVR it every night and watch 2-3 in a day. I enjoy it for the most part and just fast forward if/when the monologue gets annoying.

I personally like the Ted Turner skits. |
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
I do think he's not as edgy as he was on the Late Show, but that's also because he's in a different situation where ratings matter. Nobody gave a shit about the Late Show ratings.

One female guest star said cocksucker Another started a discussion on the vag patch. Andy said dick recently. There is the F bomb hall of fame etc. |
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
ok, point taken, but the comedy that they've been doing (specifically the sketch stuff) is tame compared to vomiting kermit, the coked up warewolf, cameltoe annie, preparation h raymond, etc..
|
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
Beardpocalypse was pretty funny. Will Farrel was in rare form. Weird to see Conan without a beard after seeing him with one for a little while.
|
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
Ya Will was hilarious last night

But then there was the IBM computer sketch, with the computer talking about Andy's wife... |

I would have preferred Conan keeping the beard, and I'll admit the actual shaving bit was really funny. The videos leading up to it, however, were awful. Not. Funny. On top of that, I guess I just really have a problem with the whole ginger / ginj stuff; that really is hate speech and I'm surprised / disappointed Conan doesn't see it that way and lets it be said on his show. |
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
Yeah, I liked the beard too! Why did he have to shave it :(

Alright then. |
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
That's your leap in logic, not mine.

Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
Ginger qualifies as hate speech according to you, and the n-bomb definitely is.
So they're the same. Because people really hate gingers, right? -rolleyes- |
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
"By the way Conan's daughter, Buddy the Elf is going to go off on Daddy's face"rotfl
