Being described, period, in a hateful ton is one thing, having a goofy term that conveys it is another. Ginger is the actual color being described, it isn't derogatory or looked down as negative in any situation I've been in. I guess blondie is equally offensive. |

Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
I've loved the New York shows this week. I kind of wish Conan would go back to doing his show there instead, but that's probably not going to happen. He just seems more in his element there.

Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
Attended a taping of tonight's show with Morena Baccarin and Wilco. Definitely considering making a yearly trek to LA to attend future tapings. Holy shit that was a lot of fun. :D

Nice. I don't watch religiously but I like Conan and I'd hate to see him get cancelled after settling in at TBS.

Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
The show just isn't funny anymore. I miss Max Weinberg. Joel Goddard. The randomness. The skits. Andy serves absolutely no purpose anymore. Conan these days looks bloated and tired. His show used to seem youthful and energetic. Now it's stale and quite lame. He just doesn't care anymore, his soul has been sapped.
Just cancel it. I prefer to think of Conan when he was on Late Night. -- |
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
Agreed this show isn't what it used to be. I honestly tune into Fallon over Conan these days.
|
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
I don't watch all the time but I still find the show pretty funny when I do catch it. Ferguson was my favorite until he left to be honest.

Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
i still watch the show daily. it is a different show, but it has to be. it can't be like the old late night show. they still have some great bits like deon cole breaks down the news, wikibear, celebrity survey and a few others.
|
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
The show is still great and as clever as it ever was. You people are on dope.

I like Conan and didn't see it before.
I DVR and wait daily. I skip around. Always watch till the interviews at least. It's the only late night show I have interest in. My damn DVR didn't have this week's Comic Con shows marked as "new". |

I'm curious, Why didn't Conan stick it out at the 12 am slot for a couple of years till Leno's contract ran out?

Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
It wouldn't have been yanked away, just delayed for a couple of years more till Leno's contract ran out. And Conan could have hammered out a new deal to ensure he would not get screwed over again.
|
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
He was right to leave in my opinion. It was a slap in the face to Conan to give him the gig for roughly seven months and then basically say: its not working so we're going to bring Jay back to the spot you were promised and essentially put you back where you were. Plus who's to say that NBC wouldn't have had another change of heart about giving him the gig after Jay eventually left for good? I think all in all its worked out better for him anyways as his TBS show doesn't have to cater to a mainstream audience necessarily and he can be more himself.

Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
Regardless it was a good choice on his part to leave and I think a lot of people in similar situations would have done the same.

Also, why did NBC force Leno out after Conan left? Wasn't he getting good ratings? |
Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011
He had an iron clad deal to host the tonight show on NBC. Look where that got him. I don't think you realize that having a contract didn't mean shit in this case because they just bought him out of it. They wanted him out so they got him out.
